From creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes Frankenweenie, a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life--with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new 'leash on life' can be monstrous.

IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX; TSX:IMX) and The Walt Disney Studios today announced that Tim Burton's stop-motion, animated film, Frankenweenie will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® 3D format and released in IMAX® digital theatres worldwide day-and-date today, Oct. 5, 2012. The film marks the first black and white Hollywood feature and first stop-motion animated movie to be presented in IMAX.

The Marcus Center has announced that Chicago's legendary comedy theatre The Second City will appear at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts-Vogel Hall at 123 East State St on December 6-16. The Second City's Dysfunctional Holiday Revue delivers a healthy dose of seasonal satire where neither holiday film classics, family gatherings nor Christmas carols are too sacred for a show that is the perfect alternative to the same old holiday shows.

Producers Terry Schnuck, James & Catherine Berges, Crystal Beuerlein and Michael F. Neidorff today announced that they will present the Off-Broadway premiere of Falling, the new play by Deanna Jent, that will begin an open-ended run tonight, September 27th at the Minetta Lane Theater (18 Minetta Lane, one block south of West 3rd Street, just off of Sixth Avenue). Opening Night is set for Monday October 15th (7PM).

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA) presents its 22(nd) annual Simply Shakespeare reading of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' September 27 at the Freud Playhouse, UCLA Campus. This event features a star-studded tie-dyed cast of hilarious hippies for an evening filled with peace, love reading a psychedelic 1960's adaptation of Shakespeare's play that includes iconic music of the era. Directed by SCLA's Artistic Director Ben Donenberg, the groovy participants include Billy Crystal, William Shatner, Martin Short, Topher Grace, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Redmayne, Cedric the Entertainer, Paul Dooley, Olivia Thirlby, Alan Tudyk and co-chairs Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks and more!

Coyote REP has announced that RATED M FOR MATURE by Greg Ayers, a play that was featured in Coyote REP's 2010 Works-in-Development Series, will now be featured in The New York International Fringe Festival's Encore Series! After a successful run in this year's FringeNYC, Rated M for Mature was selected from among nearly 200 FringeNYC productions to move into the SoHo Playhouse for Encores. This special honor gives the production an extension of five more performances, starting Monday, September 10th.

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming CG animated musical feature film currently in production, DOROTHY OF OZ. The film will feature voiceovers by a host of Broadway veterans including Lea Michele as Dorothy Gale, Bernadette Peters as Glinda, Kelsey Grammer as Tin Man, Megan Hilty as China Princess, Hugh Dancy as Marshall Mallow, Patrick Stewart as Tugg and Martin Short as Jester. Winner of the 2012 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical, SILENCE! The Musical the unauthorized parody of The Silence of the Lambs, with book by Hunter Bell, music & lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction & choreography by Christopher Gattelli, will open a Los Angeles company with performances beginning tonight, August 31, at the Hayworth Theatre. This engagement marks the West Coast Premiere of the Off-Broadway hit. The press opening is scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2012. SILENCE! The Musical is produced by Theater Mogul.
