Hilarious star of stage and screen Martin Short makes his Segerstrom Center debut on Thursday, November 21 at 8 p.m. in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall for a special one night only performance of his acclaimed one-man-show An Evening with Martin Short.

Now in its third year of operation, Ann Arbor's Penny Seats Theatre Company is set to produce its trademark summer show at the West Park Band Shell, 215 Chapin Street in Ann Arbor.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that due to inclement weather, The Public Theater Gala performance of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE will now happen on the rain date, Tuesday, June 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. A stand-by line for tomorrow's concert performance will start forming at 6:00 p.m. with any available tickets given out just prior to curtain.

The Public Theater announced today that Kevin Kline will reprise his Tony Award-winning role of The Pirate King with Glenn Close as Ruth, Eric Idle as the Sergeant, and Martin Short as Major-General Stanley in the one-night-only concert performance of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE for The Public's annual gala. Co-chaired by Sir Howard Stringer, Arielle Tepper Madover, and Renee Beaumont, this unforgettable summer evening will also honor the late Nora Ephron who was a long-time board member and consummate lover of The Public's Shakespeare in the Park.

About a third of the way into Tony Award-winner Faith Prince's new show at 54 Below last Wednesday night (the second of a five-show run over six days), it hit me that I could be watching a potential future cabaret legend in action. You know, in the Barbara Cook, Marilyn Maye, Andrea Marcovicci, Ann Hampton Callaway category. I felt Prince's new effort--'Have a Little Faith'--was one of the few shows I've seen at 54 Below--especially from a Broadway star--that was a true 'cabaret show' in the way most people define cabaret.

Katherine Waterston has officially joined recently announced Josh Brolin in Paul Thomas Anderson's adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's INHERENT VICE, according to Deadline.

Brolin joins Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Martin Short Owen Wilson, and Jena Malone for the film. Sean Penn is also reportedly considering a role.

Philadelphia Theatre Company announces that Mary Birdsong, Aisha de Haas, Kate Flannery, Ashley Austin Morris, andJoyce Van Patten will appear in the Philadelphia cast of Love, Loss, and What I Wore on June 25-July 7 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. This intimate collection of stories by sisters Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron and directed by Karen Carpenter is based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman. Like the popular book, the show uses clothing, accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories to which all women can relate. This production is presented by special arrangement with producer Daryl Roth.

The Public Theater announced today that Public Theater alumna and Academy Award winner Meryl Streep and Sir Howard Stringer will honor their friend and colleague, the late Nora Ephron, a long-time Public Theater board member, at The Public's Gala on Monday, June 10 at the Delacorte Theater, where the benefit evening will culminate in a concert performance of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE.

Billy Crystal will return to Broadway this fall for a 9-week-only limited engagement of his Tony Award-winning, record-breaking play 700 SUNDAYS. This will mark the final engagement of this production. According to The New York Times, Martin Short announced in a statement from his publisher today that he is writing a memoir for Harper.

DSI Comedy Theater will bring Kevin McDonald, of Kids in the Hall, to the Cat's Cradle this summer. On Friday, June 21, McDonald takes the mic and the stage at the Cat's Cradle, 300 East Main Street. He will be joined by a line-up of some of North Carolina's most talented stand-up comedians and improvisers.
