The American Film Institute will honor Mel Brooks with the 41st AFI Life Achievement Award, the highest accolade for a career in film. The award will be presented to Brooks at a gala tribute tonight, June 6, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA.
According to Deadline, Bobby Cannavale is in talks to star in an upcoming and untitled rock 'n' roll series for HBO, produced by Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter and created alongside Rolling Stones leading man Mick Jagger. The show is aiming to begin filming its pilot episode in 2014.
The David Lynch Foundation will launch its new performance division, DLF Live, at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on June 15, 2013. DLF Live will harness the power of arts and creativity to bring meditation to at-risk communities. The launch will be marked by a screening of Meditation, Creativity, Peace, a documentary highlighting filmmaker David Lynch and his decades-long dedication to meditation and the arts. Hangar Theatre kicks off its 2013 season on June 13th with Neil Simon's irresistible comedy Last of the Red Hot Lovers, which runs through June 29. Featuring a stellar cast including three Broadway favorites, this seminal work will be directed by Hangar Associate Artistic Director Jesse Bush. Last of the Red Hot Lovers had its original Broadway run from 1969-1971 and received four Tony nominations, including for Best Play.
