The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall announced today its 2009-10 Dance Series which features one of the most eclectic mixes of world-class performers ever presented - from classical ballet to hip-hop to bodies enmeshed in silvery, slithering aluminum snake-like pipes.

This week Paul Szilard Productions, Inc. in association with ATTRACT Productions (Greece) is presenting the Martha Graham Dance Company in a special New York City engagement at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South, Tuesday, May 12th - Saturday, May 16th. The acclaimed company is performing two programs of Grahams' classics and on Thursday, May 14th there will be a special Gala honoring international impresario Paul Szilard.

TAKE Dance Company, a contemporary dance ensemble known for its gentle blend of eastern and western sensibilities led by artistic director and choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, presents a program filled with exuberant play, human dancescapes and structural patterns that overflow the stage.

EVN Productions and Old Timey Productions, in association with The ATTIC Theatre and Film Center will present the World Premiere of 'NIGHTS OF NOIR!' - 'Marked For Love' & 'Of Dicks And Dames,' an evening of two 40's themed one-act whodunits hosted by Burlesque Goddess, Honey Ima Home. The Martha Graham Dance Company will honor Paul Szilard at their Gala on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 at 7:00 pm during their special engagement week at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South. Jacques D'Amboise will be introducing Mr. Szilard.

RIOULT will present the world premiere of The Great Mass along with three acclaimed repertory pieces during its 2009 New York season, running April 14 - 19, at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street. The Great Mass is a full-evening work set to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Mass in C Minor, and will be joined on the schedule by Mr. Rioult's Wien (1994), Views of the Fleeting World (2008) and Les Noches (2005). The season will include a Gala Fundraiser honoring two-time Emmy Award-winner Sonya Hamlin, president of Sonya Hamlin Communications, to be held at the Altman Building in Chelsea on Wednesday, April 15th (*formerly The Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre).

Indiana University Associate Professor Osamu James Nakagawa was confirmed as a Guggenheim Fellow last week. Fellows were announced Tuesday, April 7. This marks the 85th year for the annual competition, established to honor 'stellar achievement and exceptional promise for continued accomplishment' to add to the 'educational, literary, artistic and scientific power of this country, and also to provide for the cause of better international understanding,' according to the organization's mission statement.

Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts has named renowned Forsythe dancers and educators Jill Johnson and Mario Zambrano as the 2009 Artists in Residence at The New School. Johnson and Zambrano will create with the students an original work inspired by One Flat Thing, reproduced, a work by choreographer William Forsythe of The Forsythe Company, which premiered in 2000.

Friends In Deed will present a legendary trio as Charles Busch, Whoopi Goldberg and Lypsinka star in the first-ever New York presentation of the infamous Broadway-play-that-wasn't, LEGENDS!.
