TAKE Dance Company, a contemporary dance ensemble known for its gentle blend of eastern and western sensibilities led by artistic director and choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, presents a program filled with exuberant play, human dancescapes and structural patterns that overflow the stage. The four-performance engagement will feature two premieres: the world premiere of Footsteps in the Snow, set to music by Arvo Part, and the New York City premiere of Shabon, set to the music of Steve Reich, as well as Love Stories (2008), a three movement pas de deux, and the beloved Linked (2008) '...a bright explosive tour de force' (The Daily Gazette) inspired by the music of Pat Metheny.

The world premiere of Maureen Whiting Company?s Myth of Me and You heralds a new era of contemporary dance presentations at ACT. Created during a year-long residency supported and presented by ACT?s innovative Central Heating Lab, this highly conceptual new work shines an intense light on our own personal mythologies. Myth of Me and You premieres in ACT?s Allen Theatre March 13?15, 2009. Paul Szilard Productions, Inc. in association with ATTRACT Productions (Greece) is presenting the Martha Graham Dance Company in a special engagement at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South, Tuesday, May 12th - Saturday, May 16th. The acclaimed company will be performing two programs of Grahams' classics and on Thursday, May 14th there will be a special Gala honoring international impresario Paul Szilard (guests & program tba).

The innovative modern dance troupe, Merce Cunningham Dance Co., will perform two of its works, 'Second Hand' and 'eyeSpace' at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. March 7. Widely recognized as the greatest living modern dance choreographer, Cunningham has been praised internationally for decades for his revolutionary work.

Visionary director Martha Clarke brings Hieronymus Bosch's provocative painting to life in Garden of Earthly Delights, exploring heaven, hell, and the beauty and sins amid, began performances Saturday, November 8 at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre, 18 Minetta Lane.

The Emergency Fund for Student Dancers (EFSD) announces our annual benefit concerts by advanced students of its member schools - The Ailey? School, Merce Cunningham Studio, Dance Theatre of Harlem School, Lim?n Institute, Houston Ballet, and Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. The concert is on Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 1, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School, 466 West 152nd Street (between Amsterdam and St. Nicholas Avenues). This annual event called by The New York Times 'one of the happiest dance rituals in town,' brings together the best of the professional studio schools in New York and provides a rare opportunity to see a broad range of dance technique and choreographic variety in a single evening, while raising money to provide emergency support to these same students as they train for professional dance careers. The concerts feature original work by legendary choreographers and respected faculty from member schools. Among the featured works are: Diversion of Angels by Martha Graham, performed by the Martha Graham Ensemble; an excerpt from Joplin Dances by Robert Garland, Lowell Smith's Fragments, and Peter Pucci's Episode, performed by the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble; MinEvent by Merce Cunningham, staged by Robert Swinston, performed by the Cunningham Repertory Group; an excerpt from A Choreographic Offering by Jose Lim?n, directed by Roxanne D'Orleans-Juste, performed by Professional Studies Program students of the Lim?n Institute; and 4 YOU, by Pedro Ruiz danced by the Ailey/Fordham Student Dancers of The Ailey School. The New York Times has reported the sad news that Pearl Lang, a dancer who was a major interpreter of Martha Graham's choreography and who as a choreographer and teacher founded a distinguished company of her own, the Pearl Lang Dance Theater, died Tuesday in Manhattan. She was 87 and lived on the Upper West Side reports the Times

TWEED TheaterWorks, in association with Robbi Kearns, will bring back the vaudeville Follies when such beloved artists as Rufus Wainwright, Lypsinka, Jackie Hoffman, Julie Halston, David Ilku, Brenda Bergman and Lady Bunny participate in 'FOLLY: The Grand Street Folles, 2009,' a fundraiser for God's Love We Deliver and TWEED Theaterworks on February 27 and 28, 2009 at 8pm at the Abrons Arts Center (466 Grand St.) in Manhattan. 'FOLLY: The Grand Street Follies, 2009', inspired by the follies of the 20's -- but billed as a 'Vaudeville for the New Depression' -- will be an 'old school' vaudeville show featuring live acts: comedy, intriguing skits, unusual musical numbers, spectacle extravaganzas and more than a few surprises.

Rhoda Herrick has just announced that Garden of Earthly Delights will be extending its run for the second consecutive time, continuing through Sunday, May 31 at the Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane). The show, which opened to rave reviews on November 19, began previews on November 8 and was originally slated to run through January 18. Friends In Deed will present a legendary trio as Charles Busch, Whoopi Goldberg and Lypsinka star in the first-ever New York presentation of the infamous Broadway-play-that-wasn't, LEGENDS!. Written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner James Kirkwood (A Chorus Line), the play will be presented in a special One Night Only staged reading benefit on Monday evening, March 23 at 8PM at Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street).

RIOULT will present the world premiere of The Great Mass along with three acclaimed repertory pieces during its 2009 New York season, running April 14 - 19, at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street. The Great Mass is a full-evening work set to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Mass in C Minor, and will be joined on the schedule by Mr. Rioult's Wien (1994), Views of the Fleeting World (2008) and Les Noches (2005). The season will include a Gala Fundraiser honoring two-time Emmy Award-winner Sonya Hamlin, president of Sonya Hamlin Communications, to be held at the Altman Building in Chelsea on Wednesday, April 15th (*formerly The Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre).

The Cedar Lake Theater in West Chelsea will come to life on Friday, January 23 with a thrilling evening of dance to benefit Dancers Responding To AIDS (DRA), a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BCEFA). Hosted by Tony Award winning choreographer Rob Ashford, this gala event guarantees to be a soul-stirring showcase of the best and brightest from today's varied dance landscape with performances by American Ballet Theatre, Battleworks, Broadway's 'Billy Elliott,' Camille A. Brown, Dresden Ballet, Les Ballet Grandiva, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The program will also feature the world premiere of TITLE by choreographer Chase Brock performed by NYCB principal Tiler Peck.
