The New Classics Series returns on Sunday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. with Erik Ramsey's play Smith, Unearthed, directed by Martin Giles and performed in the Charity Randall Theatre at the Stephen Foster Memorial in Oakland. New Classics is a cooperative program presented by the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Theatre Arts and Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre. The series is intended to highlight new works and showcase up-and-coming playwrights.The reading is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a talk-back with the cast and audience. The moderators will be series coordinators Melissa Hill Grande, PICT Associate Artistic Director and Director of Marketing, and David Peterson, a graduate student in the Ph.D. program of the Department of Theatre Arts.

An international conference, seminars, a fully-staged opera, world premiere dramatic and dance performances, and innovative exhibitions are just a few of the many events that will be highlighted during Vassar College's sesquicentennial celebrations in 2011.
Every fall, the dead are commemorated in a lively show of dance, music and theatre in Portland's longest-running Day of the Dead celebration.
Due to a family emergency Anika Noni Rose was unable to perform during the July 30th concert of Vassar's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. Alysha Umphress instead stepped in and performed the role, and it is not yet announced whether Rose will be returning for the two August 1st performances.
Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater is pleased to announce the casts of the six final readings for the 2010 season, including new works by Eve Ensler, Romulus Linney & Eleanor Cooney, Steven Sater & Duncan Sheik, Kate Walbert, Patricia Wettig, and Jennifer Westfeldt (screenplay), as well as a special workshop based on Walton Jones' 1940's RADIO HOUR, directed by Mark Linn-Baker.
