Barrington Stage Purchases Pittsfield V.F.W. as Home for New Shows

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, has purchased the Pittsfield V.F.W. at 36 Linden Street thanks to a generous gift from long-time BSC supporters Sydelle and Lee Blatt. Built in 1972 as Local V.F.W. Post 448, the 40-year-old building, which BSC has been leasing as Stage 2 since 2008, will now serve as its permanent home for new plays and musicals and an all-new cabaret space.

BWW Reviews: A Look Back at FREUD’S LAST SESSION at Taproot Theatre, Closing Tonight

Religion vs. Science. Psychology vs. Faith. Such is the debate of the ages and specifically of two of the greatest minds of the 20th century, C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud with almost polar opposite attitudes. And such is the topic of the west coast premiere of the Off-Broadway hit "Freud's Last Session" currently playing at Taproot Theatre. An interesting discussion of two iconic figures but unfortunately not really enough variety to sustain for an evening.

Taproot Theatre Ends Run of FREUD'S LAST SESSION Tonight

Science and religion, body and soul, reality and fantasy, nothing is off limits in the award winning play, Freud's Last Session, making its West Coast premiere at Taproot Theatre this March. Air raid sirens sound overhead, C.S. Lewis is a young and rising academic star and Sigmund Freud has invited him for tea. What could possibly come next? Written by Mark St. Germain and directed by Producing Artistic Director Scott Nolte Freud's Last Session runs from March 23 through April 21, with previews on March 21 and 22 and a pay what you can performance on March 28.

FREUD’S LAST SESSION to Celebrate Freud's Birthday, 5/6

FREUD'S LAST SESSION by Mark St. Germain, now in its second successful year in New York, and currently running at the Mercury Theater (3745 N. Southport, Chicago) will host a birthday celebration in honor of the anniversary of Sigmund Freud's 156th birthday on Sunday, May 6. Following both performances that day, audiences will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the cast members and snack on cupcakes. One lucky audience member will be selected to receive a "Freudian Slip" by Cosabella, courtesy of Chicago's G Boutique.

Catherine Trieschmann Receives Guernsey New Voices in Amer. Theatre Award

Catherine Trieschmann, a Kansas-based playwright whose work has been produced globally at venues ranging from South Coast Repertory of Orange County, the Bush Theatre of London, and the New Theatre of Sydney, is the winner of the 2012 William Inge Theatre Festival's Otis Guernsey New Voices in the American Theatre Award.

CBS Radio's popular weekly entertainment segment "A Closer Look at Broadway," hosted by Jim Taylor, currently features George Morfogen and Jim Stanek, who recently joined FREUD'S LAST SESSION at New World Stages as Sigmund Freud and C. FREUD’S LAST SESSION Opens Tonight in Seattle

New York's hit play FREUD'S LAST SESSION is set to open tonight, March 23rd at Seattle's Taproot Theatre for a limited engagement through April 21st. This marks the West Coast debut of Mark St. Germain's long-running play. Under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Scott Nolte, the Seattle production of FREUD'S LAST SESSION stars Nolan Palmer as Sigmund Freud and Matt Shimkus as C. S. Lewis.
