CRY-BABY Will Be Available for Licensing This Fall!

MTI just announced that licensing will be available this fall for Cry-Baby, which features a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music and Lyrics by David Javerbaum and Adam Schlesinger , and based on the Universal Pictures film written and directed by John Waters. The original Broadway cast of CRY-BABY took the stage at 54 Below for a reunion concert last night. Cry-Baby is based on the movie of the same name by John Waters and features a score by David Javerbaum (Act of God) and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), and a book by Mark O'Donnell (Hairspray) and Thomas Meehan (Annie). Although it only ran for three months, Cry-Baby was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the long-awaited official cast album will be released shortly.

Carlisle Theatre Company Presents HAIRSPRAY

Continuing a successful season of plays, The Ziegfeld Theater is pleased to bring audience favorite, HAIRSPRAY, to its stage, running tonight, August 14 - September 5, 2015.

STAGE TUBE: On This Day for 8/15/15- HAIRSPRAY

Today in 2002, Hairspray opened at the Neil Simon Theatre, where it ran for 2642 performances. Hairspray is a musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray. In 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, plump teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. She then launches a campaign to integrate the show. Hairspray is a social commentary on the injustices of parts of American society in the 1960s.

TUTS Extends OLIVER! and HAIRSPRAY by One Week

Due to overwhelming demand, Theatre Under the Stars' (TUTS) critically acclaimed and celebrated summer hits Oliver! The Musical and Hairspray -- The Broadway Musical, will extend their runs by one week. The seven newly added performances will see the shows continue to run at Stanley Park's picturesque Malkin Bowl (on alternating evenings) through to August 29, 2015 as the second official hold over in TUTS' more than 70-year history.
