Based in Mill Valley, MTC is a 47-year old professional nonprofit theater that is a destination for exhilarating performances, inspired new American plays and powerful theatrical experiences.

Photo Flash: First Look at Bobbi Kotula, Mark Anders and More in STU FOR SILVERTON at Intiman

As part of their Start Up Stagings Initiative, The Intiman Theatre is currently presenting a brand new musical in progress, "Stu For Silverton" included in the Intiman Theatre Festival running through this summer. And while it's a little too soon to give a critical review of the piece as it's still being developed, I can share with you some images from the show and a bit of a synopsis (and maybe a quick opinion or two).

BWW Reviews: Intiman's TROUBLE IN MIND Brims With Racial Inequality and Integrity

Art and integrity or money and success? Which do you strive for or can you have both? That's the underlying issue at hand in Intiman's current production of Alice Childress' "Trouble In Mind". And what begins as a wry little comedy eventually becomes a seething indictment of racial inequality in the arts and beyond. And much of that delicious intensity is due to the stirring performances from the cast and brilliant storytelling from director Valerie Curtis-Newton.

Horton Foote's THE TRAVELING LADY Comes to Seattle, 5/13

As Spring makes its way to Seattle, ESP goes to Texas for a typically beautifully-made play by the late, great Horton Foote, author of, among many works, The Trip to Bountiful, and the screenplays of Tender Mercies and To Kill a Mockingbird.

BWW Reviews: GREY GARDENS at ACT Not Quite Up To Expectations

You know when you go on vacation and come across that amazing restaurant that serves one of the most surprising dishes you've ever had that you pine over for years and then you find a restaurant back home that makes the same recipe? And maybe they don't have all the best ingredients or maybe the chef isn't quite as good but it just doesn't live up to the original? Well, unfortunately that's the equivalent of what I witnessed last night at "Grey Gardens" currently at ACT. It's still the same amazing show by Doug Wright, Scott Frankel, and Michael Korie and definitely had some outstanding moments but the whole just didn't quite compare to when I saw it on Broadway with the incredible Christine Ebersole.

STAGE TUBE: BOOK OF MORMON Tour Cast Says 'Hello' to London Company

In a fun rendition of their opening song, the US touring cast of The Book of Mormon welcomed the London company with open arms. The cast said 'Hello!' to their newly extended family; 'From our family to yours -- have a Happy Opening! Wishing you a long a successful run! Break a leg!' said the blurb below the video.

BWW Reviews: Waiting Comes Easily in Marin's WAITING FOR GODOT

If you watch Samuel Beckett's "Waiting For Godot," you're going to want to think about it. Don't. In the words of the classic play's title, wait. The key to appreciating this much-debated work comes in the audience's willingness to take it as is. Vladimir and Estragon sit by a bare tree, looking for ways to pass the time while they wait for a man named Godot. Time has given us the advantage in that we already know Godot will never appear. You're going to be tempted to dwell on why he doesn't appears and what he represents, and when you actually experience the play for the first time, you're going to want to know who these ridiculously unrealistic characters really are.

BWW Reviews: Chris Gibson's Best of 2012 in St. Louis

I'm lucky enough to see over a hundred shows every year, and I'm happy to report that 2012 was an excellent year for theatre in St. Louis. So, here I am again, offering up my lists for the best productions of 2012. While I'm not going to include the touring companies that came through town this year in my listings, I'd like to give them a shout out just the same.
