Art Brussels 2016 Announces Details of Exhibitions

The 34th edition of Art Brussels will take place in a new location, Tour & Taxis, a spectacular example of industrial architecture built in 1904, formerly a customs house. This year, the fair has been reduced in size, bringing together 141 galleries from 28 countries, represented in three main sections: PRIME, DISCOVERY and a new section, REDISCOVERY. There will also be 24 galleries participating in SOLO, a section dedicated to the presentation of individual artists' work.

Experimental electronic musician, Alexander Tanson, announces the compostion of an original soundtrack for the new play by internationally renowned author, Domnica Radulescu. Directed by Andreas Robertz, Exile Is My Home, is a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic fairy tale inspired by the playwrights experience as a political refugee from the former communist dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu. The original music and sound design follow the themes and events of the play revolving around nostalgia, exile, surreal landscapes and absurd, sometimes violent events. The result is a soundtrack moving between ambient soundscapes, emotional melodies, and surreal sound collages.

The 17th Havana Film Festival NY announced the Havana Star Prize Winners during a packed Closing Night Ceremony at the New York Directors Guild Theatre in Manhattan. Magallanes by Salvador del Solar (Peru-Colombia) won the Havana Star Prize for Best Feature. Best Director went to Argentinean helmer Santiago Mittre for Paulina. Best Screenplay went to Pavel Giroud, Alejandro Bruges and Pierre Edelman for El Acompañante (The Companion), Best Actor to Chilean Luis Gnecco for The Karadima Church, and Best Actress to the Argentinean Dolores Fonzi for Paulina. La Prenda (The Pawn) by Jean-Cosme Delaloye won the Havana Star Prize for Best Documentary. Special Jury Mentions went to feature film Mi Amiga del Parque (Mi Friend from the Park) by Argentinean director, actor Ana Katz, and Colombian documentary Paciente (Patient) by Jorge Caballero. The jury included Txemi Parra, Zita Morriña, Mario Santos, and Kevin Moore in the Fiction categories; and Alex Lora, Kevin Canfield and Carmen Alarcon for Documentaries.
