BWW Interview: Ximena Garnica of FRANTIC BEAUTY

The multidisciplinary duo Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya and the LEIMAY Ensemble return to BAM Fisher with FRANTIC BEAUTY, the newest evening-length work representing the mid-point in their BECOMING pentalogy. Combining the LEIMAY Ensemble's signature physicality layered over vivid visual landscapes, this world premiere reflects on society's pursuit of and relationship to beauty. The piece features an original score by Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards).

National Sawdust+ presents ELEMENTS OF TIME + TASTE

National Sawdust+ presents Elements of Time + Taste: A night of inventive food, mixology, and music on Thursday, September 28, at 7:30pm. Two Williamsburg culinary and mixology notables,Patrick Connolly (Rider's James Beard award-winning chef/owner) and Allen Katz (the so-called cocktail world enigma of New York Distilling Company), will create a tantalizing experience for the palate, joining forces with a lineup of remarkable composer-musicians including singer Magos Herrera, multi-instrumentalist Yuka C. Honda (of Cibo Matto, or Food Madness, fame), and the evening's music director, pianist Oded Lev-Ari, who leads the ensemble. Together, they are dreaming up an evening that explores the four natural elements through curated pairings of music, libations, and delectable bites. Ranging from tango to electronic music to Mexican folk song, the musical program will include the world premiere of Chopping Music and a piece inspired by the humble juniper berry.

Parson's Nose Announces New Home in Pasadena

Parson's Nose Theater (PNT), the acclaimed classical comedic theater company, now in its 17th Season, has established a new permanent home in Pasadena, California in time for their upcoming 2017-2018 Season. The Parson's Nose Abbey is now located at 95 N. Marengo Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91101, at the corner of Holly and Marengo.

Madison Square Park Hosts Kids Festival STAGES IN THE SQUARE 2017

Madison Square Park Conservancy will host the 2017 Kids Fest: Stages in the Square, the free family-friendly festival which will feature a diverse lineup of performing arts programming on Saturday, October 14th from 11am to 3pm on two stages across the Park. Some performances will also utilize Josiah McElheny's exhibition, Prismatic Park. The daylong event for children 0-12 years old and their families will feature a variety performances including music, dance, theater, puppetry, magic, and storytelling.

Abingdon Theatre Company has announced additional casting for their upcoming 25th Anniversary Gala on Monday, October 23 at The Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47th Street). Honoring two-time Tony and Emmy Award winner Bebe Neuwirth (Chicago, Sweet Charity, 'Cheers,' 'Frasier'), the event will feature a special concert performance of the John Kander and Fred Ebb musical revue And The World Goes 'Round.

Lyric's Ryan Opera Center Announces 2018/19 Ensemble

Dan Novak, director of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, the professional artist development program at Lyric Opera of Chicago, is pleased to announce that soprano Emily Pogorelc, mezzo-soprano Kayleigh Decker, tenor Eric Ferring, baritones Christopher Kenney and Ricardo Jos Rivera, and bass-baritone David Weigel, have been accepted into this prestigious program for its 2018/19 Ensemble.

Arizona Opera Brings 1960's Cult Classic Film to the Stage

Join Hercules and Arizona Opera on an epic quest, fighting legions of supernatural monsters in the underworld with Hercules vs Vampires. Live, on-stage singers, orchestra and conductor synchronize a newly-composed score from Patrick Morganelli with the 1961 film Hercules in the Haunted World, a fine sword-and-sandal tribute to mythology. Hercules vs Vampires comes to Tucson's Fox Theatre (17 W. Congress St.) on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. and Phoenix's Symphony Hall (75 N. 2nd St.) on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m.
