The Venetian And The Palazzo Las Vegas Announce Carnevale

The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas will come alive with the fantasy, food, fun and romance of Italy during CARNEVALE, a three-month celebration of the summer festivals of Italy, May 27 through Sept. 8, 2013. Based on the highly successful premier in 2012, the festival will be expanded to feature 300 experiences throughout the summer, including many exclusively for The Venetian and The Palazzo guests and Grazie members.

UPPER LIP Plays Theater for the New City, Now thru 5/19

Theater for the New City presents 'The Upper Lip,' an adaptation by playwright/director David Willinger of William Saroyan's forgotten 1951 novel, 'Rock Wagram.' The piece has its premiere run tonight, May 2 to 19, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM. The running time is 1:30. Critics are invited on or after May 4.

THE HUNTING OF THE SNARK to Make World Premiere with Strawdog Theatre, 5/6

Seattle International Dance Festival Begins 6/14

The 8th Annual Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF), Beyond the Threshold runs June 14-23, 2013 and like South Lake Union, the neighborhood it occupies, continues to grow by leaps and bounds. In addition to its largest roster to date of regional, national and international dance artists, and three new Spotlight on Seattle curators, Art on the Fly will seal off two blocks of Terry Avenue for a day-long urban art fiesta, including "surprise" and roving performances, a music stage, free dance classes, an artisan craft fair, a beer and margarita garden and food provided by restaurant sponsors like Tom Douglas' Cuoco and Brave Horse Tavern. The Art on the Fly kickoff is topped off with a Dusk Dance Party hosted by KEXP DJ Will Myers and a "Dancing with the Seattleites" Dance Contest. Details Below.

Houston Symphony to Perform Beethoven's EROICA; Janina Fialkowska to Play Chopin, 5/9-12

On May 9, 11 and 12, Maestro Hans Graf will conduct the Houston Symphony in a moving program beginning with Weber's Overture to Euryanthe and ending with Beethoven's epic Symphony No. 3, Eroica. Graf's good friend, Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowska, who recently won the 2013 BBC Music Magazine Award for her Chopin Recital 2 disc, will appear in the middle of the program to perform Chopin's emotional Piano Concerto No. 2.

Midtown International Theatre Festival Announces 2013 Season

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) has announced the lineup of full-length plays and musicals for its fourteenth season, running from July 15 to August 4, 2013 at the June Havoc Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 1st floor; the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 1st floor; the Main Stage Theater, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 4th floor; and the Jewel Box Theater, 312 W. 36th Street, NYC, 4th floor. Tickets are $15 for short plays and $18 for longer plays. Readings are free. Tickets will be available in May at www.midtownfestival.org or by phone at 866-811-4111. The Festival also offers various group discounts and package passes, good for full-length and short plays.
