August Wilson's JITNEY and COST OF LIVING Added to MTC's 2016-17 Season

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have just announced two additional productions as part of Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming 2016-2017 season: The Broadway premiere of August Wilson's Jitney, directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson and the New York Premiere of Cost of Living, written by Martyna Majok and directed by Jo Bonney, in association with Williamstown Theatre Festival, Mandy Greenfield Artistic Director. Cost of Living will have its World Premiere at Williamstown Theatre Festival on the Nikos Stage from June 29 to July 10, 2016.

Matthew Perry's END OF LONGING Will Make US Debut at MCC; Full Season Announced!

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director)—which recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its first-ever home, a two-theater complex on West 52nd Street and 10th Avenue— has just announced its30th Anniversary Season, which will bring together frequent MCC collaborators alongside artists new to the family for a three-play-and-a-musical season, running September 2016 through June 2017. Anchored by four mainstage premieres, the Theater will also continue its new works in development PlayLabs series and robust education initiatives throughout the season. BWW Review: North Carolina Theatre's WIT

Wit is a 90 minute one act play by Margaret Edson that tells the story of Vivian Bearing, a renowned English professor who has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. During the course of her illness, Vivian comes to reassess her life and her work with a profundity and humor that are transformative both for her and the audience.

Under the Artistic Direction of Casey Hushion, NC Theatre's production of WIT is directed by Kate Galvin, stars Kate Goehring and features Tony Award-winner Daisy Eagan (Susie Monahan, R.N., B.S.N.). The thought-provoking story will run in the AJ Fletcher Opera Theater at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh through May 8, 2016. Playhouse on Park! to Offer WIT Tuesday Matinee, 5/3

An exclusive Tuesday matinee of Wit with specially priced seating has been planned for Tuesday, May 3 at 2pm. Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize winning play examines what makes life worth living through the exploration of one of existence's unifying experiences-mortality. Audience members will be moved to rethink the vital importance of human relationships and kindness. 'Wit' is, above all, about how people express, repress and analyze their emotions, especially when dealing with the unwanted, unexpected or overwhelming emotions,' says Chris Arnott of The Hartford Courant. He continues to describe the Playhouse's production as: 'Witty, tasteful and tearfully real.'
