Studio 180 Theatre is delighted to present the work of multi award-winning British playwright Lucy Kirkwood for the first time in North America. NSFW, Kirkwood's acclaimed play from 2012, will be directed by Joel Greenberg and will be performed tonight, November 7 to 30, 2014 at The Theatre Centre.
In Busch's cheeky satire of philosophy and art, a worldly old friend interrupts a culture-saturated Manhattan housewife's nervous breakdown. With this production set in 2000, the director, Gavin Cameron-Webb aims to look back at life during that time while still bringing out the laughs in the piece.
KING KONG, which ran in Australia last year has long been rumored for a trip overseas to Broadway. As previously reported, following a successful run in Melbourne, the producers of KING KONG were planning to bring the mega-musical to Broadway in December 2014. Due to the 'huge scale of the production' and to allow the creative team necessary time to implement changes, the producers decided 'to not rush in before the end of the year.' Now according to the New York Times, the show is eyeing John Rando to direct the Broadway version. Additionally, Marsha Norman was recently brought on board as the musical's new book writer. A development timeline has not yet been announced.
The Playwrights Realm will present the world premiere of City Of by Anton Dudley, directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Cellar). The production runs January 26 through February 21, 2015 with a February 5 opening at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, NYC). Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning December 29th, 2014.
