Town Hall Theatre Presents California Premiere Of BROOKLYN BRIDGE

Next up in Town Hall Theatre 2018/19 "Lost & Found" Season is the California Premiere of Melissa James Gibson's BROOKLYN BRIDGE, a play full of heart and humor for the whole family.  BROOKLYN BRIDGE will have 12 performances, including two previews, February 28 through March 23, 2019, at Town Hall Theatre Company, 3535 School Street, in Lafayette, CA.  Tickets are $18 - $30, and are available through the Box Office at (925) 283-1557 or online at www.TownHallTheatre.com. 

Studio Theatre Announces Studio R&D Commissioned Playwrights & Directors

Building on 40 years of producing powerful contemporary theatre, Studio Theatre is pleased to announce a new class of commissioned playwrights and directors to Studio R&D, its incubator to support the creation of new work from inception to first production. Incoming Studio R&D artists are playwrights James Fritz, James Ijames, Steph Del Rosso, and Emily Schwend, as well as directors Carl Cofield, Lila Neugebauer, and Eric Ruffin. These exciting talents from the US and UK will have Studio's full support in creating aesthetically diverse new work to be presented in future seasons and introduced into the international repertoire. As they create Studio-specific works, commissioned artists will visit Studio to get to know its theatres, programming, and audiences in person.

McCarter Announces 2019 LAB Spotlight New Play Festival

McCarter Theatre Center has announced three new works as part of its 2019 Spotlight New Play Festival. These intimate play readings showcase the core of the McCarter LAB's mission to support new voices with creative insight from dramaturgs, directors, and actors to help guide and shape their plays. Additionally, real-time reactions of audience members play an active role in the creative development process, assisting playwrights in the elevation of their artistic endeavors.

Sacred Fools Presents The West Coast Premiere Of TOO HEAVY FOR YOUR POCKET

Sacred Fools Theater Company is excited to continue its 22st season with the West Coast Premiere of Too Heavy for Your Pocket written by Jireh Breon Holder and directed by Michael Shepperd. "We have been tracking Too Heavy For Your Pocket since its world premiere, and were deeply affected by the poetry and humanity on display in Jiren's work," former Artistic Director Bryan Bellomo says. "We are honored to bring a west coast premiere to Los Angeles, and thrilled to finally have the opportunity to partner with Michael A. Shepperd, the perfect director to tell this delicate story of aspiration and familial love."

Laura Linney Returns To Bridge Theatre For 26 Performances Only

Next week, from 23 January 2019, and after a sell-out run in June last year Laura Linney returns to the Bridge to reprise the title role in Richard Eyre's production of My Name is Lucy Barton. For a strictly limited 26 performances until 16 February 2019, this haunting dramatic monologue is adapted by Rona Munro from Pulitzer Prize-winning Elizabeth Strout's 2016 New York Times best-selling short novel of the same name. Evening performances are Monday to Saturday at 7.45pm with Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.

Chance Theater Announces It 2019 OTR New Works Series Lineup

Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is delighted to announce its OTR New Works lineup for 2019. We will be presenting staged readings of Jessica Huang's Transmissions in Advance of the Second Great Dying on March 6th, John Glore's Creep on May 8th, and 2016 Resident Playwright Jenny Connell Davis' End of Shift on October 9th. We will also be doing a LAB Workshop of a new play (which is still being written) by our 2019 Resident Playwright, Jessica Huang from July 18th - 21st. All performances will take place at the Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

Tyrone Huntley and Oti Mabuse Bring AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' back to London at Southwark Playhouse

Paul Taylor-Mills and Mercury Theatre Colchester in association with Tamasha Theatre Company are delighted to announce a brand-new production of Ain't Misbehavin' - the first London revival in almost 25 years - playing at Southwark Playhouse from Friday 19 April to Saturday 1 June, following its premiere at Mercury Theatre Colchester from Friday 15 - Saturday 30 March. Tickets are on sale now.

Town Hall Presents Staged Reading Of Anna Ziegler's BOY

Next up in Town Hall Theatre's staged reading series IN THE WINGS is a one-night only reading of BOY, a moving new play about gender identity by Anna Ziegler.  BOY will have one performance only on Monday, February 4, 2019, at Town Hall Theatre Company, 3535 School Street, in Lafayette, CA.  Tickets are $10 general admission and free to subscribers, and are available through the Box Office at (925) 283-1557 or online at www.TownHallTheatre.com. 

Four Productions Of Three NNPN Rolling World Premieres Open In The Next Week

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the continuation of three Rolling World Premieres: Apples in Winter by Jennifer Fawcett at Indianapolis's Phoenix Theatre (January 11-27, 2019), Red Bike by Caridad Svich at Know Theatre of Cincinnati (January 11-February 2, 2019), and Gabriel Jason Dean's Heartland at New Repertory Theatre (Watertown: January12-February 9, 2019) and the VORTEX (Austin: January 17-February 9, 2019).

Patricia Kalember To Play Gloria Steinem In GLORIA: A LIFE

Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Indecent) announced today that Patricia Kalember ("Power," "Sisters," "thirtysomething") will put on the aviator glasses of iconic activist Gloria Steinem in GLORIA: A Life beginning Tuesday, January 29. Christine Lahti will play her final performance as Gloria on January 27.

Zawe Ashton And Charlie Cox Join Tom Hiddleston In BETRAYAL

Two of the country's most exciting young stars, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox, will join Golden Globe, Olivier and Evening Standard Award winner Tom Hiddleston in The Jamie Lloyd Company production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 5 March 2019 (press night 13 March) for a strictly limited season ending on 1 June, directed by Jamie Lloyd. The production forms the culmination of the historic Pinter at the Pinter season.

Announcing The Cast Of Lucy Thurber's TRANSFERS At Crowded Fire

Crowded Fire Theater (CFT) Lucy Thurber's TRANSFERS will open Crowded Fire's 21st home season of new and contemporary plays. A brilliantly written, gut-punch of a play that strips the veneer off of meritocracy and asks us if we are willing to sacrifice ourselves to embrace a way out, this new production of TRANSFERS will feature an impressive cast directed by Ken Savage.

Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway premiere of Choir Boy, by Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Trip Cullman, will extend for one additional week of performances, playing through Sunday, February 24

34 Participants Announced For 7th Annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony At Goodspeed

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 34 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2019 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 21 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.
