'Earth Sucks' to Premiere at Art/Works Theatre Starting 10/4

When a renegade Earth girl falls for a fugitive alien lead singer, their love - and their music - are all that stand between an evil pop diva and the destruction of the universe. Get ready for the Intergalactic Premiere of the hilarious, touching rock musical 'Earth Sucks,' with book, music and lyrics by Jonas Oppenheim. The 'stellar' cast features Emily Stern, Nakia Syvonne, Lucas Revolution, Christopher Fairbanks, Alicyn Packard, Jennifer Fenten and Scott Palmason.

'Ugo's Last Dance' Runs at Medicine Show Theatre Starting 9/10

God Machine, in Partnership with The Foundry Theatre, presents Ugo's Last Dance, a new musical by David Lefort Nugent & directed by Alec Tok, at The Medicine Show Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street, from September 10th to October 4th.

Ugo's Last Dance is a haunting tale about three clowns, whose fame as political commentators under the previous regime, leads them-under a tyrannical usurper-to languish their days away in a jail cell, where the play is set.

Signal Ensemble Theatre Announces "Six Degrees..." on 11/08, and "...Miss Jean Brodie" for 4/09

Artistic Directors Ronan Mara and Joseph Stearns announced the next two productions in Signal Ensemble Theatre's 2008-2009, sixth anniversary season, 'Six Degrees of Separation' and 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie,' presenting a diverse slate which focuses on different individuals and their struggles with the pressures of society and the consequences of their choices. Both productions will be directed by Artistic Director Ronan Marra.

Berkeley Rep Begins Enrollment

Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre begins enrollment for spring classes at its School of Theatre and a summer intensive for middle- and high-school students. The 10-week spring schedule includes courses for all ages and abilities in acting, directing, movement, voice, and playwriting. Among its highlights is a two-day workshop on physical theatre for professional actors taught by renowned clown Geoff Hoyle. The Summer Theatre Intensive offers two four-week sessions for middle-school and high-school students while school is out. All classes meet in the Nevo Education Center at 2071 Addison Street next door to the Theatre in downtown Berkeley, and are taught by instructors who are nationally recognized teaching artists and theatre professionals.
