A lifelong advocate for the arts and social services will be recognized by Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma with its top honor at this fall's Broadway Ball. Mary Deane Streich will receive the John Kirkpatrick Award, named after Lyric's founder, during the organization's annual fundraiser on October 6.

Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that single tickets are on sale now for Celebrating 100 Years of Bernstein, a musical event honoring the legendary composer, conductor, and pianist Leonard Bernstein. Celebrating 100 Years of Bernstein is part of Lyric's 2017/18 season, but in anticipation of high demand for this special evening, single tickets are being made available early.

Lyric Opera is excited to present an afternoon of glorious music with Lawrence Brownlee and Eric Owens in Recitalon Sunday, April 9 at 3pm. Tenor Lawrence Brownlee and bass-baritone Eric Owens, who have both earned critical and audience praise internationally and in Lyric productions, will share their talents, artistry, and exciting range of repertoire. Summer in Chicago wraps up in August with the final weeks of the Grant Park Music Festival, led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Carlos Kalmar and the Grammy Award-nominated Grant Park Orchestra, along with Chorus Director Christopher Bell and the Grant Park Chorus in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park. In August, the Festival's dynamic programming features the Grant Park Chorus, saxophone virtuoso James Carter, pianist and YouTube sensation Valentina Lisitsa,a collaboration with the Lyric Opera's Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center and two performances honoring the hundredth anniversary of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

Anthony Freud, general director of Lyric Opera of Chicago, announced yesterday that the company is projecting a breakeven operating performance for fiscal year 2013. Lyric has operated in the black for 25 of the past 26 years-a record among the country's major not-for-profit music and performing-arts companies.
