The Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical Once, just celebrated its 1000th performance on Broadway last night, August 13. Following the 8:00pm performance, Once composer Glen Hansard, who flew in from Los Angeles after performing songs from his new album at the Hollywood Bowl, joined the cast on stage at the curtain call and BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the special event below!

Acclaimed actors Chris Noth and Fritz Weaver join the cast of Lincoln's Favorite Shakespeare with John Douglas Thompson and Kathleen Chalfant. Tonight, August 14 at 4pm at the Fitzpatrick Main Stage, this noted quartet of actors are donating their performances to the event and will present scenes and soliloquies known and loved by Abraham Lincoln from the canon of Shakespeare with a reception immediately following at Chesterwood.

Once in a while you see an actor whose performance just blows you away. That happened when I saw A.R. Gurney's Far East for the third time and Vanessa Kai was cast as The Reader. A few years later I saw her perform in the physically demanding and emotionally wrenching two-person show, An Infinite Ache, about a couple who meet, marry and grow old together.

Profiles Theatre opens its 26th Season with the Midwest Premiere of Reasons to Be Happy by Resident Artist Neil LaBute, directed by Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox. The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company today announced that their 2014 - '15 season will begin with the first major New York revival of Lee Blessing's A Walk In The Woods starring Kathleen Chalfant and Paul Niebanck, directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein. It will be followed in the spring by a rare revival of John & Jen, the musical with music by Andrew Lippa, lyrics by Tom Greenwald, and a book by Lippa and Greenwald.

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run September 13 - September 27. Opening night is Sunday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. Single tickets go on sale on Friday, August 8 at noon.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Sunday Symposium on Playwright Alan Ayckbourn, following the Sunday, August 24, 3 p.m. matinee performance of Ayckbourn's romantic comedy, 'Things We Do for Love,' with guests Tony Award nominee John Tillinger, director, and Geneva Carr, cast member.
