BWW Review: ABT's DON QUIXOTE Fires Up The 2017 Spring Season
by Christina Pandolfi - May 22, 2017

It takes the perfect spark to light a match, and on Thursday May 18, 2017, that spark was Soloist Christine Shevchenko. Replacing a temporarily injured Gillian Murphy, her rendition of Kitri was the cherry on top of the already delicious sundae that is Petipa's 'Don Quixote,' presented during the company's first week of spring performances at their Metropolitan Opera House residency. The ability to adapt, adjust, and make something your own is a rare gift that so often gets taken for granted. But it's exactly that nuance that let Shevchenko - and the entire production - shine like the brightest star in the sky.

BWW Reviews: The Joyce Theater Opens Its Ballet Festival with Joshua Beamish
by Rose Marija - Aug 11, 2015

On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, the Joyce Theater opened its Ballet Festival with MOVE: the company. Joshua Beamish , Choreographer and Artistic Director, has been touring extensively with his company since its founding in 2005; and has been collaborating with notable companies, schools, and principal dancers ever since. This performance was especially inviting, as many of his dancers perform with American Ballet Theatre and other top companies. It was fun to see soloists and corps de ballet members having the opportunity to shine, dancing contemporary ballet works using their technical prowess and, in some cases, expressiveness.

BWW Reviews: Designing Women with Kenneth MacMillan
by Melia Kraus-har - Jun 23, 2015

American Ballet Theatre's 75th anniversary spring season honored the legacy of the company's seasoned dancers and showcased its younger ranks. Mixed bills displaying a range of classic and neo-classic roles segued into ABT's strongest realm: the story ballet. Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie offered his artists as heroes and heroines. From 'Othello' to 'Giselle' to 'La Bayadere' to Ratmansky's 'The Sleeping Beauty' to Monday, June 15th's 'Romeo and Juliet' at Lincoln Center's Metropolitan Opera House, his dancers remained in a stratosphere of romanticism.
