Terry Teachout's solo play and John Douglas Thompson's completely captivating performance make for compelling tributes to an artistic original.

Trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg was inspired by Louis Armstrong. Alto saxophonist Tia Fuller was influenced by Cannonball Adderley. On Sunday, March 30 at 3 pm, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, they will present a groundbreaking concert with no musical borders in a concert presented by the New Jersey Jazz Society. Tickets are $20.

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) has announced the launch of a 2014 winter concert series. Making her debut at the Bucks County Playhouse is Tony and Emmy Award-winning Leslie Uggams, whose career has spanned Broadway, Hollywood and concert stages around the world. In AN EVENING WITH Leslie Uggams directed by Michael Bush, Leslie will perform a variety of her classic, signature songs all in one evening audiences won't forget. When the Harlem Renaissance was in vogue at the dawn of the 20th Century, the jazz clubs around Jungle Alley, between Lenox and Seventh Avenue - The Savoy Ballroom, Small's Paradise, Minton's Playhouse, Clark Monroe's Uptown House, The Ubangi Club, Park Palace, Connie's Inn, and others - were the place to be. These immortal nightclubs, concert halls, cabarets, speakeasies and ballrooms, will be channeled and showcased May 4 - 10 at the Fourth Annual Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival.

Tonight, February 20, Littlefield, Brooklyn hosts Pete Lanctot with his band of merry cohorts for their inaugural album release party. A unique and sought after singer songwriter living in NYC, Lanctot boasts surreal and mysterious narratives that invoke present day New York City, a Memphis juke joint of the 1920s or hitchhiking a depression era plains state highway.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced that Oscar-nominated musician Pharrell Williams, coming off of his multi-Grammy Award-winning night, will headline the 'Entertainment Series presented by Sean John at Macy's' during the 63rd NBA All-Star Game tonight, Feb. 16, at New Orleans Arena. The game will air live at 8 p.m. ET on TNT, ESPN Radio, and in 215 countries and territories in more than 47 languages. Recently added performers will include Jason Derulo, Aloe Blacc and Mack Wilds.
