Run of the Mill Theatre to Present OTHELLO in 2010-2011 Season, Oct. 22-31

The Run of the Mill Theatre has just concluded auditions for the first production of the 2010-2011 season. Othello will be performed October 22-31 at the LOF/t, 120 W. North Avenue.

Gee's Bend depicts the turbulent history of African-Americans in the 20th century by focusing on a single family in the real community of Gee's Bend, AL, which is now famous for the beautiful quilts created by the women that grew up there. A moving tale of three generations of African-American women living in this isolated Alabama town chronicles the courage and resiliency of their life's journey. Gee's Bend highlights the life of Sadie Pettway, from her teenage years to her 70s, and the other women in her quilting circle. Their experiences inspired them to create magnificent quilts that were miraculous works of art, and inspired this haunting play filled with Gospel music that has swept the country. Likewise, it will stir North Coast Rep audiences long after the lights have faded.

STRAIGHT NO CHASER, the quirky male a cappella group who became a YouTube sensation with their 'The 12 Days of Christmas' video, make their first PlayhouseSquare appearance with a December 15th concert at 8 pm in the State Theatre. Tickets go on sale beginning at 10 am, Friday, Oct. 15th at www.playhousesquare.org, the Ticket Office or at 216-241-6000. Prices will be $35, $30 & $25.

Charles Randolph-Wright To Recieve Paul Robeson Award 10/8

Actors' Equity Association announced today that Charles Randolph-Wright is the recipient of the 2010 Paul Robeson Award. Created in 1974, the Award recognizes a person who best exemplifies the principles by which Mr. Robeson lived. The award will be presented to Mr. Randolph-Wright at the October 8, 2010 General Membership meeting at the Union's headquarters in New York City.

Nilaja Sun wrote and originally performed the Off-Broadway smash No Child. For her creation and performance of No Child, Sun garnered a Lucille Lortel Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Theatre World Award, an Obie Award, the John Gassner Playwriting Award, and was named the Best One-Person Show at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Over the 2007-2008 season, she toured No Child to several regional theatres including the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, American Repertory Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
