Soundtrack for Sturgess & Hathaway Film 'One Day' Features Song From Elvis Costello

On August 16th, 2011, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) releases digitally the motion picture soundtrack for the new movie One Day, starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. The soundtrack One Day features a brand new track written and composed exclusively for the movie by Elvis Costello; titled 'Sparkling Day,' the song is only available on this soundtrack. Also included is a stellar roster of songs by a diverse group of artists from the last two decades; plus selections from the original film score by Academy Award winner Rachel Portman (Emma, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat).

'One Day' Starring Hathaway & Sturgess, Based on Bestselling Novel Begins Production

Production has begun on One Day, the feature film version of the internationally praised novel of the same name by David Nicholls, which this month enters The New York Times bestseller list. Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess star in the movie. One Day is a co-production in the unique partnership of Random House Inc.'s Random House Films division and Focus Features. The U.K.'s Film4 is co-financing.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 135 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Those who accept the invitation will be the only additions in 2010 to the Academy's roster of voting members. Included in this year's list are Tony Award nominees James Gandolfini (GOD OF CARNAGE) and Anna Kendrick (HIGH SOCIETY), Drama Desk nominee Carey Mulligan (THE SEAGULL), director Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'), and musicians Bono & The Edge (SPIDERMAN: TURN OFF THE DARK).

Anne Hathaway to Star in 'One Day' Flick

Anne Hathaway will star in the film version of David Nicholls' novel 'One Day,' the Associated Press's Edwardsville Intelligencer reports. The story deals with a romance between a working-class woman (Hathaway) and a rich man (Jim Sturgess).

25th Annual Independent Spirit Award Nominees Announced

Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards. Nominees for Best Feature include (500) Days Of Summer, Amreeka, Precious, Sin Nombre and The Last Station. Taraji P. Henson and Matt Dillon also announced finalists for the Acura Someone to Watch Award, the Truer Than Fiction Award, and the Piaget Producers Award. A Serious Man was selected for the Robert Altman Award, which is given to one film's director, casting director and ensemble cast.

Satellite Nominations Announced, 'Nine' Receives 11, 'Glee' Receives 5, Presented 12/20

The Golden Satellite Nominations were announced today and the film version of Maury Yeston's 'Nine' received 11 nominations, inclduing Best Motion Picture and Best Director for Rob Marshall. In addition, television favorite 'Glee' received 5 nominations including Best Television Series, Best Actor in a Series for Matthew Morrison and Best Actress in a Series Lea Michele.
