As if she didn't already have her hands full playing both Yitzhak and the title role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on tour, Tony Winner Lena Hall took time off from the stage to sing the national anthem for game 3 of the National League Championship Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs. Check out the video below!
As BroadwayWorld reported earlier, tonight Lena Hall is making history when she goes on for the title role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, making her the first performer in history to play both Yitzhak and Hedwig in the same production. Today Hall posted an Instagram photo montage of all the photos taken during her photoshoot for Hedwig marketing materials. Check out the stunning transformation series below!
After winning a Tony Award for her performance as Hedwig's husband, Yitzhak, in the Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, originally starring Neil Patrick Harris, Lena Hall stayed with the production through three more Hedwigs. Now, she's joined the national tour in her iconic role, but tonight, she takes an even more legendary step: For the first time in history, the role of Hedwig and Yitzhak will be played by the same actor within a production. Hall will steps into the international song stylist's shoes for one performance per week, while her understudy will perform the role of Yitzhak.
Lena Hall will reprise her Tony Award-winning performance as Yitzhak in the highly anticipated National Tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the 2014 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival, in performances at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco (October 2-30, 2016) and the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (November 1-27, 2016), opposite Darren Criss. In a groundbreaking twist, she'll also play the role of Hedwig for one performance a week in San Francisco and Los Angeles. It is a rare occasion for a Tony Award winner to go on national tour, and historic for the same person to play both Hedwig and Yitzhak.
Check out a first look at Hall in the Hedwig makeup below!
Lift up your hands! Darren Criss, Lena Hall, and Stephen Trask presented acoustic performances of 'Sugar Daddy' and 'Midnight Radio' from HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH at a Members-only In Conversation event at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco this afternoon.
Following her Tony-winning performance in the 2014 Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch as Yitzhak, Lena Hall is pulling a different wig out of the box and hitting the road as the title character for some cities along the production's national tour.
The lucky followers of Hall's Instagram got an early sneak peek of the actress in part of her costume; check out the photo she posted below!
