The study-away program brings undergraduate students, recent college graduates, and international students into an active, ongoing engagement with the eclectic and energetic arts community of San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. Grounded in a rich academic curriculum, the San Francisco Semester focuses on the practical aspects of the craft of acting and life in the professional theater. The 15-week program features a 17-credit core curriculum enhancing students' study with rigorous, upper-level classes in acting styles, voice/dialects, physical theater, and devised (student-created) work. Classes at the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre's School of Theatre begin on July 6, and the summer session includes 12 classes for adults, three classes for students in elementary school, and a theatre intensive for teens. The first session, for students entering grades 6-8, takes place on weekdays from June 21 through July 16. The second session, for teens in grades 9-12, is held July 19 through August 13.
