TED TALKS EDUCATION Airs on PBS Tonight

TED, the non-profit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, and WNET, in partnership with PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), will co-produce TED's first-ever original television special this spring, featuring content created and curated exclusively for the show. The TED TALKS EDUCATION one-hour program will feature a mix of teachers and education advocates delivering short, high-impact talks on the theme of teaching and learning. The special was taped before a live audience on April 4, 2013 in the BAM Harvey Lichtenstein Theater of New York's Brooklyn Academy Of Music, and will air nationally on PBS tonight, May 7, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. EST. TED TALKS EDUCATION is part of American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen, a nationwide public media initiative made possible by CPB to help communities identify and implement solutions to the high school dropout crisis.

The Flea Extends I HATE F*CKING MEXICANS thru December 11

After a successful run at The Flea, the theater has announced the extension of the U.S. Premiere of I HATE F*CKING MEXICANS by Luis Enrique Gutierrez Ortiz Monasterio "the enfant terrible of contemporary Mexican theater." Translated by Debbie Saivetz, Ana Graham, and Danya Taymor and directed by Ms. Taymor, a Flea Resident Director; the production features members of The Bats and The Riot Group's Adriano Shapman. Previews began October 9, with opening night on October 18. The show is now extended with limited performances through December 11.

I HATE F*CKING MEXICANS Makes U.S. Premiere at The Flea Tonight, 10/9

NBC News Hosts 1st Annual STUDENT TOWN HALL Today, 9/23

NBC News announced that the 2012 "Education Nation" Summit will include a special student event hosted by MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry. As part of an education-focused edition of THE MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY SHOWfrom 10:00AM-12:00PM/ET today, Sunday, Sept.23, the premiere Student Town Hall will begin at 11:00AM/ET. The program will be broadcast from The New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman building in midtown Manhattan.

The Next 50 Sets OUR FUTURE WATERFRONT Event for 9/24

Big changes are coming to Seattle's downtown waterfront - a new seawall that protects the city and improves habitat, the world's largest-diameter bored tunnel to connect the city and the region, and 26 blocks of new parks, paths and public space that will reconnect Seattle to Elliott Bay. As part of The Next Fifty - a six-month celebration of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair and its legacy - Seattle Center is hosting a special event on Monday to help people envision what the future holds.

ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, Performs to Benefit Rotary International’s Fight Against Polio, 5/31

Rotary International invites all to join them and the Ogunquit Playhouse in the fight to eradicate Polio worldwide by purchasing a ticket to ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, on "Rotary Night," tonight, May 31, 2012 at the Ogunquit Playhouse. For every ticket sold that evening, the Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion to the York Rotary Club. This year's goal is to raise over $5,000 to support Rotary International's goal of eliminating worldwide polio. Tickets start at $39 per person. President Obama Speaks at Medal of Freedom Ceremony, Honoring Bob Dylan, Toni Morrison et al.

Today, May 29th, President Barack Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Medal of Freedom is our Nation's highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
