After a vote on Monday evening, the Stratford Town Council has rejected a developer's plan to renovate the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford Connecticut. The 1,500 seat theater has been closed for over two decades, and was to be reopened by Bill Hanney, producer of the Theatre by the Sea in Matunuck, R.I.

Stage Pictures: Drawing for Performance will be shown at the Museum of Modern Art March 11, 2009-August 24, 2009. The Paul J. Sachs Drawings Galleries, third floor Visual artists have long been interested in the stage as an arena for experimentation, and their interdisciplinary collaborations have immeasurably enriched the history of modern art.
