Tom Aulino, Barbara Walsh, Mary Beth Fisher and More Star in KC Rep's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, Beg. Tonight Tonight

Kansas City Repertory Theatre's production of Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning Broadway hit comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, directed by the Rep's Artistic Director Eric Rosen, runs tonight, March 14 - April 6 at Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is a co-production with Center Stage in Baltimore.

John Glover Joins Drama Desk Shakespeare Panel at Sardi's, 4/4

Distinguished American actor John Glover (Witch/A Porter/Murderer 3 in Lincoln Center's Macbeth) will join Drama Desk's "Why Shakespeare? Why Now?" at Sardi's on Friday, April 4 (11:45 AM-2:30 PM), it was announced by Isa Goldberg, president of Drama Desk. Glover will join previously announced panelists-actors Michael Pennington and Scott Shepherd and directors Daniel Sullivan and Julie Taymor-in the lively discussion exploring the reasons why New York's current theater season has such a distinctive Shakespearean flavor. Carol Rocamora, an educator, critic, playwright, translator, and Drama Desk member, will be the moderator.

Lincoln Center Theater will soon present Act One, a play written and directed by James Lapine from the autobiography by Moss Hart. The production is scheduled to begin previews Thursday, March 20 and open on Thursday, April 17 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). The play will feature Bill Army, Will Brill, Laurel Casillo, Chuck Cooper, Steven Kaplan, Will LeBow, Mimi Lieber,Charlotte Maier, Andrea Martin, Deborah Offner, Matthew Saldivar, Matthew Schechter, Bob Stillman,Amy Warren, Santino Fontana and Tony Shalhoub. Lin-Manuel Miranda's FREESTYLE LOVE SUPREME Set for LCT3, 3/21-22

Lincoln Center Theater presents an LCT3 Special Event - Freestyle Love Supreme, the popular live, improvised show featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, writer and star of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical IN THE HEIGHTS. Freestyle Love Supreme will play 4 performances only, March 21 and 22 at 7pm and 9pm, at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN to Premiere at Wexner Center, 4/10-13

Acclaimed playwright/director Young Jean Lee returns to the Wexner Center for the Arts, April 10-13 for the world premiere of STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, a provocative new work presented with an all-star cast (Austin Pendleton, Scott Shepherd, Pete Simpson, and James Stanley) and finalized through the support of the Wexner Center Residency Award program.

Jed Bernstein, the new President of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts who assumed office in January, will take questions on Reddit as part of its popular Ask Me Anything (AMA) series. Bernstein will take and respond to questions about Lincoln Center in this special open-forum session today, March 11, 2014 at 3:30 p.m., at reddit.com.

Breaking News: Lin-Manuel Miranda & Karen Olivo to Star in tick, tick...BOOM! for Encores! FAUST and PUMP BOYS Announced

This just in! New York City Center's acclaimed Encores! Off-Center series, under the artistic direction of Jeanine Tesori, will return this summer for a second season of landmark Off-Broadway musicals. The season opens with Jonathan Larson's tick, tick… BOOM!, June 25 - 28, starring Lin-Manuel Miranda and Karen Olivo, directed by Oliver Butler, and continues with a one-night only performance of Randy Newman'sFaust: The Concert, with Randy Newman as the Devil, directed by Thomas Kail, on July 1. Pump Boys and Dinettes, withbook, music and lyrics by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel and Jim Wann , directed by Lear deBessonet and choreographed by Danny Mefford, wraps up the season, running July 16 - 19. Chris Fenwick is the Encores! Off-Center music director.

Jeffrey Bean, Melissa Pritchett and More Set for Alley Theatre's COMMUNICATING DOORS; Cast & Creative Team Announced!

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.

Writers Theatre to Present World Premiere Musical DAYS LIKE TODAY, 5/6-6/13

Writers Theatre presents the World Premiere of Days Like Today, inspired by the plays of Charles L. Mee with music and lyrics by Alan Schmuckler and book by Laura Eason, directed by Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and music direction by Doug Peck. The production runs May 6-July 13, 2014 at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.

'Always Something Left to Love...' Meet the Full Company of A RAISIN IN THE SUN, Beginning Tomorrow on Broadway!

Previews begin tomorrow night, Saturday, March 8, for the return to Broadway of Tony Award-winner and two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, starring as Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN. Asolo Rep Continues 2013-14 Season 4000 MILES, 4/2-27

Asolo Rep continues its 2013-2014 season and its celebration of the American family with Amy Herzog's soulful inter-generational play 4000 MILES, a 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist and 2012 Obie Award winner for Best New Play. Directed by Tea Alagi, previews will be April 2 - 3, opening night will be April 4 at 8pm and the play will run through April 27 in the Historic Asolo Theater.

DMT to Present Staged Reading of DYING CITY, 4/1

The Douglas Morrisson Theatre (DMT) has announced the sixth production in the 2013-2014 'Bare Bones' staged reading series: 'DYING CITY' by Christopher Shinn, a provocative, psychological drama about two people who share a tragic legacy.

Official: HAMILTON, Written by and Starring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Set for Public Theater's 2014-15 Season

As first reported by BWW yesterday, HAMILTON, written by the Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda, will have its world premiere next January as part of The Public's 2014-15 season at Astor Place. Directed by his In The Heights collaborator Thomas Kail, this new musical features Miranda playing Alexander Hamilton, one of our country's Founding Fathers and the first Secretary of the Treasury. (Troilus & Cressida). The Drama Desk's annual Spring Luncheon/Panel Discussion at Sardi's Eugenia Room, 234 West 44th St., on Friday, April 4, will try to answer the questions 'Why Shakespeare?
