The Chicago area's Bach Week Festival has announced its 46th annual concert programs, with performances in Evanston and Chicago April 26 to May 3, 2019, featuring several Johann Sebastian Bach works never before heard at the festival; the return of pianist Sergei Babayan, praised by The New York Times for his 'consummate technique and insight'; and a first-time collaboration with gifted pre-college musicians of the Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago.

Red Bull Theater today announced that their ninth annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes will feature two brand new commissions from Kia Corthron and Will Power, alongside six brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. The award-winning Aeolus Quartet is joined by revered clarinetist Franklin Cohen, former principal of the Cleveland Orchestra, for three concerts on the Chamber Music Society of Detroit's new regional partner series. The concerts take place Friday, January 18, 7:30 PM in the Patriot Theater at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial; Saturday, January 19, 7:30 PM at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton; and Sunday, January 20, 3:00 PM at Oakland University's Varner Recital Hall in Rochester Hills. The program features Mozart's masterful Clarinet Quintet, as well as an early Beethoven Quartet, Op. 18, No. 3 in D major, and American composer Ben Johnston's String Quartet No. 4, Variations on Amazing Grace.

This past Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, Austin nonprofit Black Fret awarded $250,000 to local musicians at the fifth annual Black Fret Ball at ACL Live at The Moody Theatre, resulting in over $1 million in grants awarded to Austin musicians over the last five years. The show featured live performances by 15 of the 20 grant nominees for 2018.
Robo & Bash Productions presents ROPE, A Play by Patrick Hamilton, taking place at the Avery Schreiber Playhouse in North Hollywood. Directed by Anna Safar, this production will open December 7th, 2018, and will play Today through Sunday for two weekends, closing December 16th, 2018. Showtime todays and Saturdays will be at 8pm, and Sundays at 7pm.
The Jewish Museum is presenting Accumulations: Hanukkah Lamps featuring over 80 Hanukkah lamps representing four continents and six centuries of artistic production. The eight-night holiday takes place this year from sundown on December 2 through sundown on December 10, 2018.
