The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that continued this week, July 21 on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 16th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 11.

In attendance was the cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes (Diana DeGarmo, Christina Bianco, Jenna Leigh Green, Sally Schwab) who performed a medley of hits from the 50s and 60s. Check out highlights below!

Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 16th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 11. This year's 106.7 LITE FM'S Broadway in Bryant Park is presented by New York-Presbyterian for Kids and TKTS Discount Ticketing Booth.

On July 7th the girls of Springfield High School received a fun surprise - at each performance a man is selected from the audience to portray the music teacher, Mr. Lee.  Last night that participant happened to be Russell Tovey, star of Broadway's The History Boys, and well as HBO's "Looking".   Also in the audience were Dee Hoty (Bright Star) and Nancy Opel (Honeymoon in Vegas, Urinetown) as well as Ace Young (American Idol, Broadway's Grease and Hair).

Producer/Directors Tom and Michael D'Angora were welcomed American Idol and Hairspray alum Diana Degarmo to The Marvelous Wonderettes, whose official opening was Thursday, June 2nd.  For her opening night performance, DeGarmo was joined onstage with a surprise cameo from her husband, former Idol alum and star of Broadway's Hair, Ace Young, as the audience participant, Mr Lee.  The show celebrated with friends and Broadway stars afterwards at Oovina Latin Kitchen and Wine Bar.

Producer/Directors Tom and Michael D'Angora are thrilled to welcome American Idol and Hairspray alum Diana Degarmo to The Marvelous Wonderettes! From May 25th through July 31st. Diana joins the production in the role of Suzy Simpson, the lovable bubble-blowing Wonderette who sings such hits as "Stupid Cupid", "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me", "Rescue Me", and "Respect".  

Filmed live at Usher Hall in Edinburgh, Bianco sings a medley of Sherman Brothers classics as Barbra Streisand, Britney Spears, Idina Menzel, Liza Minnelli and many more.

Producer/Directors Tom and Michael D'Angora will welcome American Idol and Hairspray alum Diana Degarmo to The Marvelous Wonderettes!  From May 25th through July 31st, Diana will play the role of Suzy Simpson, the lovable bubble blowing Wonderette who sings such hits as "Stupid Cupid", "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me", "Rescue Me", and "Respect".   Degarmo says, "I am excited and honored for the chance to sing the music of the iconic women I grew up idolizing, alongside three fabulous and funny gals in The Marvelous Wonderettes. We are gonna have one heck on a time and y'all won't want to miss it!"

RISE BAR is seeking its next RISING STAR! Hosted by Broadway's Marty Thomas (Xanadu, The Secret Garden, Wicked), the RISING STAR competition begins Sunday March 6! The contestants will be competing in a 10 week elimination style contest for a $1000 cash prize and paid bookings at RISE Bar with their respective solo show. In addition to its cash and prize package, RISING STAR is offering networking opportunities with guest celebrity judges, fantastic exposure and valuable live stage experience. The winner will receive a headshot package by Claire Buffie photography. They will also receive a demo package provided by Yasuhiko Fukuoka. Competition judges Courtney Reed and Jelani Remy also donated generous prize packages from THE LION KING And ALADDIN on Broadway. 

The Marvelous Wonderettes are back! The long-running Off-Broadway hit musical celebrated its opening night at New York's Theatre Row last night, April 28th. The show, featuring such classic fifties and sixties hits as 'Lollipop,' 'Dream Lover,' 'Stupid Cupid,' 'Son of a Preacher Man,' 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,' and 'It's My Party,' stars Christina Bianco as Missy, Kathy Brier as Suzy, Jenna Leigh Green as Cindy Lou, and Sally Schwab as Betty Jean. Laura Woyasz also stars as the 'Wonderstudy'. James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director of York Theater Company has announced that as part of its Developmental Reading Series, it will present Erik Ransom's 'More Than All the World' an epic musical inspired by Christopher Marlowe's 'Edward II' directed by Rachel Klein ('Around the World in 80 Days', 'The Anthem') with music direction and arrangements by Andy Peterson ('Atomic'). The reading will take place on March 15th at 2PM.

What could be more exciting than a stage full of musical theatre students performing the roles they dream to play in the decade that lies ahead? Answer: Absolutely nothing.  I was one of the fortunate audience members to share in the experience of night two of the Dream Roles Concert, performed by the UCF BFA Musical Theatre Senior Class (with half the class performing on December 12 and the other half on December 13). From the opening medley to the finale, all of the students had stars in their eyes and a fire in their hearts.  UCF is known for attracting impressive talent and I can only imagine the pride felt by the staff, family and friends in the audience. I only wish I'd witnessed night one to have captured the complete essence of the pseudo recital.
