The 12th Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals, produced by Goodspeed Musicals' Max Showalter Center for Education in Musical Theatre, kicks off its much-anticipated three-day festival of brand-new works on Friday, January 13, 2017 at The Goodspeed with a staged reading of the intriguing new musical Picnic at Hanging Rock by Daniel Zaitchik based on the cherished novel by Joan Lindsay.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater tour the UK for the first time in 6 years, presented by the amazing Dance Consortium. Hailed by the US Congress as "a vital American cultural ambassador to the world", the company perform original works by the late Alvin Ailey - including his most famous and critically acclaimed piece Revelations - as well works by more contemporary choreographers who contribute to the company's repertory. 

The New York premiere of the award winning STREET REQUIEM will debut at Carnegie Hall at 8pm tonight, September 24th, in A Concert of Hope.

I've thought about writing a blog for a long time.  I wasn't sure that I wanted to take on the pressure of figuring out what to write, what is entertaining, who's my audience, blah blah blah.  But I know that when I read other people's words and reflections, it moves me. It speaks to me. And I often see my thoughts in their thoughts.  So I figure, it's about time to share what excites me. Because I am at a point in my life when there is a whole lot of new adventures that are pretty damn exciting!

Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with exciting new programming and expanded international destinations, including Russia and Brazil. The 2016 Summer Tour, GENERAT10N, will visit cities across the U.S. and Canada when it kicks off in Atlanta, GA on May 31, 2016. In each location, the premier non-profit performing arts training program will present an incredible roster of Broadway directors, performers, and industry insiders who will offer highly personalized musical theatre training and mentoring through unique, week-long performing arts intensive workshops for students of all ages, skill levels, and socio- economic backgrounds.

What is the biggest challenge in playing Monty 8 times a week? Staying hydrated!  I have to make sure I drink enough water during the day. I hardly have a chance to drink any water during the course of the show, because I am onstage 99% of the time!

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (the 'CMTP') has enjoyed tremendous success, launching new musicals that are being produced and further developed by leading theatres around the world.

In FROM HER EYES ONLY, multi-hyphenate Derek Jeremiah Reid revels with his charismatic stage presence and characterization of famed James Bond novelist Ian Fleming. Reid commands the stage with his effective scripted emoting and his quick-witted improv-ed one-liners. Reid begins his show most promisingly with his Fleming delivering the pre-show instructions. Very clever.

On Sunday, June 21, 9:30 pm & Midnight, Broadway Bares is back and sexier than ever. The event will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom located in the Manhattan Center (311 West 34th Street, NYC). BROADWAY BARES is an annual event that consists of an evening of sexy striptease that benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year the event will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a spectacular edition, Broadway Bares: Top Bottoms of Burlesque, a show inspired by the golden age of Broadway.

A collection of great local talent will take to the stage next Wednesday 17 June 2015 with Cabaret @ The Cremorne Open Mic Night - an explosive evening of emerging and established cabaret performers strutting their stuff at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).

Danny Elfman's Music from the Films of Tim Burton explores the collaborative relationship between music and storytelling, and the process and importance that this has in filmmaking. Composer Danny Elfman and visionary Hollywood filmmaker Tim Burton have created a unique concert experience, blending music and visuals to celebrate the nearly three decades long partnership of two of Hollywood's top creators. Conducted by Jason Hiester, this live concert features Danny Elfman's famous film scores brought to life on stage by the Columbus Symphony, enhanced by visuals on the big screen of Tim Burton's original film sketches, drawings, and storyboards. Please note: Danny Elfman and Tim Burton will NOT be present at the concert.
