In between the first set of live shows for 'The Voice of the Philippines,' Broadway star turned coach Lea Salonga, her fellow 'The Voice' coach Sarah Geronimo, together with pop and theater stars Rachelle Ann Go ('The Little Mermaid,' 'Tarzan'), Nyoy Volante ('In the Heights,' 'Rock of Ages,'), Sitti ('Nine,' 'Spring Awakening') and Cris Villonco ('Jekyll and Hyde,' 'Walang Sugat'), performed at the benefit concert 'Jammin' for HELP' at Whitespace last night.

Symphony Space will open its 2013-14 Music season with 'Kurt Weill on Broadway,' Monday, October 7 (8 pm) at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. The show takes place on the 70th anniversary of the Broadway opening of Weill's One Touch of Venus. Ted Chapin hosts a stellar cast featuring Melissa Errico, Brent Barrett, Judy Blazer, and Ron Raines, plus winners of the international Lotte Lenya Competition.

In between the first set of live shows for 'The Voice of the Philippines,' Broadway star turned coach Lea Salonga leads a benefit concert for the victims of Typhoon Maring in the Philippines. The onslaught of the typhoon has taken the lives of 24 Filipinos; displaced almost one million residents; and destroyed an estimated PhP700 million in agricultural products and infrastructure throughout Luzon, the largest island in the country.

Allegiance Texas has announced that George Takei will be coming to Austin on September 3 for an exclusive screening of the New American Musical Allegiance, with a live performance by Telly Leung and a Q&A immediately following.

Today we are talking a phenomenally talented performer known for his decades treading the boards in a number of featured and lead roles, most recently wowing crowds with his turn as one of the title characters in THE GERSHWINS' PORGY & BESS - the engaging and golden-voiced Norm Lewis. Billy Porter, 2013 Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical (Kinky Boots) surprised students of Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Intensive Session One with his appearance on July 25th. Porter entertained the students with tales of his experiences. In addition, he participated in a Q&A, answering student's questions and providing advice for young performers. Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert visited students at Broadway Artists Alliance Alumni Session to share his journey from young actor to Tony Award Winner.
