With 60+ Events Across New York City, the United States' Leading International Literary Festival, Curated by Chip Rolley, Turns Its Global Lens on Its Home Country

Irish Arts Center (IAC), the arts and cultural center dedicated to projecting a dynamic image of Ireland and Irish America for the 21st century, is proud to welcome back fiddle player Martin Hayes, "one of Ireland's great musical exports" (WNYC), for a week-long residency, April 25-29, to take place in and out of their current home on 51st Street. Each of these five evenings, many of which are curated by Hayes himself, will feature special guests from within and beyond the world of Irish traditional music, breaking barriers and taking audiences on an unforgettable artistic journey.

Following the successful and exciting run at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Jack Trinco's darkly comic cabaret act, 'Death Part 7: The Last Word' plays two nights at The Allways Lounge (2240 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans) on April 20th and 21st at 9:00 p.m.

Marking the debut solo record of “envelope-shredding” trumpeter/composer Stephanie Richards, Fullmoon is years of shaping, culminating in a mesmerizing work of refined electric insanity. With Fullmoon, Richards is unplugged, acoustically manipulating her horn against resonating surfaces, appearing to sound processed, only to be live-sampled by electronic pioneer Dino J.A. Deane. Unbridled and succinct, Fullmoon is a sonic exploration of supernatural pulses and groove.

Director and playwright Stan Zimmerman has found his quartet of actors for his new comedy Knife to the Heart, co-written with Christian McLaughlin. The show will play a limited run of 3 WEEKS ONLY for 9 performances (May 4-20) at the Dorie Theatre, part of The Complex on LA's famed Theatre Row (6476 Santa Monica Blvd, LA CA 90038). Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. The cast includes Chelsea Kane ('Baby Daddy'), Todd Sherry ('Parks & Recreation'), Josh Zuckerman (A Delicate Ship) and four-time Emmy-nominee Patricia Richardson ('Home Improvement'). New York Live Arts 2018 Live Ideas Gala, co-chaired by Slobodan Randjelovi? and Jon Stryker and Ruth and Stephen Hendel and hosted by award-winning performer and playwright Anna Deavere Smith, pays tribute to Live Arts' annual Live Ideas Festival. The Gala will take place at Irving Plaza, 17 Irving Place, New York City on Monday, April 16, starting with a cocktail reception at 6:30pm and followed by the dinner and program at 7:15pm.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) continues our Improvisionaries season presenting trailblazing composer and electric violist, Martha Mooke.  COP's fifth series program at the Kimmel Center, Mozart, Mooke, and Faure, will feature Mozart's brilliant Symphony No. 38 "Prague." This iconic work received its first performance in Prague during one of Mozart's most successful tours to the city. The "Prague" symphony will share the program with a new commission by Martha Mooke. Mooke's unique style crosses the classical, jazz, and rock genres with a compelling and singular musical voice. In addition to concert appearances worldwide, Mooke's work has been featured in recordings that often defy categorization, including David Bowie's Heathen CD.

The Brown Arts Initiative (BAI) at Brown University presents its second public symposium on April 5?6, 2018, at the Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts on campus.

Stephen Petronio Company will honor fashion visionary Patricia Field and lifelong patron of dance Sylvia Drulie Mazzola at the company's 2018 Benefit on March 21. The evening will feature the fourth season of Bloodlines, a five-year autobiographical project that not only honors the lineage of American postmodern dance, but also traces the influences and impulses that have shaped choreographer Stephen Petronio.

The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, has been the premier curator of cutting-edge interactive storytelling for more than a decade. The 2018 Tribeca Immersive program showcases works by artists who are pushing boundaries, using technology to tell stories and create new experiences. The Virtual Arcade lineup, presented by AT&T, includes 21 world premiere VR/AR exhibits as well as five Storyscapes experiences in competition. The program takes place at the Tribeca Festival Hub from April 20-28. A new addition to Tribeca Immersive is Tribeca Cinema360, a VR theater featuring four curated screening programs of 360° mobile content, running April 21-28. The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 18-29, 2018.

Performances Announced For 2018 Bang on a Can Marathon, Featuring 10 Hours of Free Live Music

The Grand Theatre is thrilled to announce a first-time collaboration with the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), bringing A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS to the Spriet Stage. This acclaimed stage adaptation, based on the award-winning novel by Khaled Hosseini, had its world premiere in San Francisco in July 2016 and became the bestselling production in A.C.T.'s history. The Grand's production will premiere an all new, all Canadian cast with original staging by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff. The Title Sponsor for A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS is London's Selectpath. 

For his first solo museum show in the United States, artist Nick Mauss (b. 1980) will present Transmissions, an exhibition conceived for the Whitney, which explores the reciprocal relationship of modernist ballet and the avant-garde in New York from the 1930s through '50s. The exhibition-which features daily dance performances in the Whitney's eighth-floor Hurst Family Galleries-goes on view March 16.

After 25 years as director of the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University, Sherri Geldin has announced she will leave the helm at the end of December 2018.

Talking Band are currently presenting the world premiere of Fusiform Gyrus - A Septet for Two Scientists and Five Horns, written and composed by OBIE Award winner Ellen Maddow, and directed by Ellie Heyman, running through February 25 at HERE, located at 145 6th Avenue (Enter on Dominick, 1 block south of Spring) in New York City.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq and Greenlandic mask dancer Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory in an electrifying combination of sound and movement, March 16 - 18 at 7:30pm in the Telus Studio Theatre as part of the Beyond Words series. Lauded for their expressive and emotionally-charged performances, together these powerhouse artists will cast a contemporary light on their shared Inuit roots while celebrating the strength, resilience, and courage of Indigenous women.
