Ute Lemper Debuts Pablo Neruda Song Cycle At Joe's Pub, 10/4

On October 4 at 7 PM, world-renowned, classically trained German cabaret singer and Broadway star Ute Lemper will debut a new, original song cycle inspired by the love poems of 20th century Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (1904-1973). Conceived and composed by Lemper herself in collaboration with Marcelo Nisinman, Ute Lemper Sings Pablo Neruda will continue at Joe's Pub throughout the month of October with dates on October 4, 5, 6, 30 and 31. Joining Lemper for the run at Joe's Pub are Tito Castro and JP Jofre on Bandoneon, John Benthal on Guitar, Steve Millhouse on Bass and Andy Ezrin on Piano.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater's World's Stage Program Features Scottish Exchange, Fall 2012

In keeping with the trans-Atlantic relationship, Chicago Shakespeare and Scotland's theater community are engaged in a cultural exchange-one CST production, The Q Brothers' Othello: The Remix, is now playing to wildly enthusiastic response at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the very festival that launched two critically acclaimed National Theatre of Scotland (NTS) productions that are slated for Chicago Shakespeare's fall 2012 World's Stage series: The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart, and the return engagement of Black Watch.

The Actors Fund and The Hollywood Museum Hosts Memorial for Dale Olson Today, 9/20

A celebrated list of industry elite will gather to honor one of Hollywood's greatest cheerleaders - Dale Olson. The Actors Fund and The Hollywood Museum (formerly The Max Factor Museum), will host a memorial for one of the entertainment industry's greatest publicists and industry insiders, who passed in early August. A lobby exhibit will be designed to highlight the remarkable career of the man who many have referred to as the guardian of the Golden Era of Hollywood.

The National Theatre Announces New Management

The Trustees of the National Theatre Corporation (NTC), in Washington, D.C., are announcing that they have entered into an arrangement with Chicago-based JAM Theatricals, Ltd. and Philadelphia area-based SMG that will expand the presentations at the historic National Theatre to include an annual Broadway series, concerts, leading classical artists and other attractions. JAM and SMG are combining to provide booking, advertising, marketing and promotional services, venue management and operational support for the Theatre.

St. Jacobs Country Playhouse Presents SLEUTH, 10/3-21

Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth, will be on stage at the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse for three weeks only from October 3rd through October 21st. Described as 'a top-class thriller whose plot twists and turns are breathtakingly audacious and fiendishly cunning, Sleuth is in one of the cleverest thrillers ever imagined.'

George Lucas Among Speakers at WWII Fall Film Series at N-Y Historical Society

Join us for the New-York Historical Society's inaugural Bernard and Irene Schwartz Classic Film Series, World War II and Its Legacy in Film, featuring opening remarks by notable directors, writers, actors, and historians. Produced in conjunction with New-York Historical's exhibition WWII & NYC, this selection of classic films will show a broad scope of life during and after the war and reflect many of the exhibition's themes, including life on the home front, the dispatch of troops and the struggle to readapt to postwar life.

Gerard McCarthy (Bruce) and Oliver Wilson (Christopher) join the previously announced, Robert Bathurst (Robert), to complete the cast of Blue/Orange. The second show in Theatre Royal Brighton Productions inaugural season, directed by Christopher Luscombe, Joe Penhall's Blue/Orange will tour nationally from 13 September 2012, before transferring to the West End. THE LADYKILLERS Embark on UK Tour from Today, September 14

Graham Linehan's hit adaptation of the classic 1955 Ealing comedy The Ladykillers, directed by Sean Foley, will embark on a 26 week tour of Ireland and the UK in 2012, beginning today, 14 September at Theatre Royal Plymouth. The production will then tour to Canterbury, Sheffield, Birmingham, Southampton, Cambridge, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Malvern and Bath in 2012, with further dates for 2013 to be announced.

Rare Terra Theatre Presents WRONG MOUNTAIN, Now thru Oct 7

Rare Terra Theatre celebrates the Chicago premiere of Wrong Mountain at The Second Stage, 3408 North Sheffield, tonight September 13 - October 7. The witty black comedy, written by award-winning playwright David Hirson, is directed by Rare Terra's Artistic Director Ian Streicher.

Linda Purl Brings MIDNIGHT CARAVAN and Guest Desi Arnaz, Jr., to Feinstein's, 9/30-10/1

Feinstein's at Loews Regency will continue its Fall 2012 season with the return of singer and television star Linda Purl, in her new show "Midnight Caravan: Travels through the Great New York Clubs." Recapturing the glamour of New York's swank hotspots like The Copacabana and The Blue Angel, Purl invokes the smoky, after-hours world of the 1940s and 50s. With musical direction by Tedd Firth, "Midnight Caravan" includes songs such as "Easy Living," "I Thought About You," and "My Romance," to name just a few.

STAGE TUBE: On This Day 9/10- CATS

Today in 2000, Cats closed at the Wintergarden Theatre, where it ran for 7485 performances. Cats is a musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. Cats first opened in the West End in 1981 and then on Broadway in 1982, each time directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Gillian Lynne; it won numerous awards, including both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Judy Kuhn Joins Provincetown Broadway Series, 9/8 & 9

Judy Kuhn has been nominated for three Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards for her work on Broadway in She Loves Me, the American premieres of Chess and Les Misérables, and Rags. She joins the acclaimed lineup of the Broadway at The Art House series in Provincetown, today, Sept 8 and 9 for two shows only. Series host Seth Rudetsky joins her at piano.
