Vocalist Shepley Metcalf, critically lauded by the Boston Globe as a 'superb cabaret/jazz singer,' is celebrating the release of her third recording, 'Don't Bother to Knock,' with a series of shows on the east coast this Fall. New Yorkers can catch Metcalf at the Metropolitan Room for one show tonight, November 1st at 7pm, singing music from the CD along with some other lesser-known gems from the Great American Songbook. When composer/arranger/pianist Billy Childs was introduced to the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Laura Nyro at the age of 11, he was left with a powerful and lasting impression of Nyro's unique blend of Broadway-inspired melodies, jazz improvisations and socially conscious lyrics. Childs returned to that early experience for his latest project, creating and orchestrating his newest album, Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro. Orange County jazz fans will have the opportunity to hear Childs' loving homage to the late great Nyro at Segerstrom Center for the Arts tonight, October 17 at 8 p.m. in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) will present BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS (BS&T) featuring BO BICE tonight, October 11 at 8:00 PM. With World Class vocals, musicianship, and a multitude of solid gold hits, Blood Sweat and Tears is at the top of their game. Vocal dynamo and pop phenomenon Bo Bice fronts the band with a self-assured voice and good looks. They are the band that fused rock, blues, pop music, horn arrangements and jazz improvisation into a hybrid that came to be known as 'jazz-rock.'

Dry Land, written by Ruby Rae Spiegel and directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt, is a haunting new play about female friendships and abortion-a hilarious, savage, and deeply truthful portrait of the fears, hopes, and friendships of teenage girls. It is as gut-wrenching as it is funny, and while the play's characters may be young, the challenges facing them are ageless.

The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center and StandOut Productions present a gala evening celebrating the world premiere of Vickie Shaw's brand new comedy film, I'm Not Your Role Model, directed by StandOut's Andrea Meyerson A 'comedy Q&A' featuring Ms. Shaw and her funniest friends, Roxana Ward and Lisa Koch, will follow the screening. The audience is then invited to an outdoor reception in the beautiful courtyard of the Center's The Village at Ed Gould Plaza. The party will take place tonight, August 9, starting at 8 p.m.
