LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, THE MUSICAL, a new musical based on the beloved Laura Ingalls Wilder series of classic American books, will play June 8-13 at Bass Performance Hall. It is presented by Performing Arts Fort Worth and Casa Manana; single tickets are $30-$75 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 1.

After a successful ten week run, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Music and lyrics by William Finn; Book by Rachel Sheinkin; Conceived by Rebecca Feldman; Additional material by Jay Reiss) will extend for an eleventh week at Florida Studio Theatre's Keating Theatre, January 26 to January 29, 2010.

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE has remained one of the most beloved celebrations of pioneer life since the appearance of Laura Ingalls Wilder's classic books 70 years ago. Now the inspirational stories take on a new frontier in an uplifting new musical. Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura in the much-loved television series, continues her legacy, starring as 'Ma'. Families will continue to fall in love with these life-affirming stories of struggle and triumph and the celebration of the pioneer spirit - a spirit that still resonates within each of us today.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle proclaimed January 19, 2010 as "Laura Ingalls Wilder Day" in honor of the Wisconsin-born author of the famed "Little House" books. Later this evening, Little House on the Prairie, The Musical starring Melissa Gilbert will open in Overture Hall inside Overture Center for the Arts. The touring musical will also make a stop at Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton March 23-28.

Lastly, we'll add some comic relief with 9 TO 5: The Musical based on the smash hit movie with Music and Lyrics by Dolly Parton."

A 'W-I-N-N-E-R' (Sarasota Magazine) with audiences and critics alike, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, is a hilarious musical comedy of six young people in the throes of puberty and are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. Together they learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The 2005 Tony Award-Winner for Best Book of a Musical, it played for over 1,000 performances on Broadway and continued to have success across the nation in both touring and regional performances. 'We are thrilled that Florida Studio Theatre's production speaks to Sarasota audiences as it has world-wide. 'Little House on the Prairie - The Musical', based on the 'Little House' books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and starring Melissa Gilbert as 'Ma', opened quietly at the Buell Theater on Tuesday night. Oh yes, there were commercials and talk of the show. But the show itself is a very low key affair. And that's not a bad thing. There are no chandeliers, bubbles or 'flying green witches' and that is what may upset some theatergoers. What theatergoers will like is that Melissa Gilbert, the original Laura Ingalls from the 70's TV series, plays 'Ma' in this musical production.
