7-Eleven' Bring Your Own Cup Day is Back with a Punch(bowl)

Dust off your sand buckets, punchbowls, beach cups or other unique containers. The highly anticipated Bring Your Own Cup (BYOC) Day is back at participating 7-Eleven stores Aug. 18 and 19, from 11 a.m. 7 p.m. each day.

Bring us your jars, your pails, your ladles and punchbowls yearning to be filled with your favorite Slurpee drink. The much-anticipated "Bring Your Own Cup" (BYOC) Day is back at 7-Eleven stores to kick off the 2017 Slurpee season.

In the seventh presentation of the popular Rep Lab, the short-play festival features the company's Emerging Professional Residents (EPR) in acting, directing and technical theater to showcase their talent. Eight actors, seven directors, and four designers comprise the EPR team. n an evening to honor women and their contributions to the arts, Milwaukee's Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) announced their 25th anniversary season while Support Women in the Arts Now, or SWAN, on Monday, March 27, immediately after a Milwaukee weekend dedicated to women in the arts. The month and date's significance mattered. Saturday, March 25 celebrated the 10th International SWAN holiday, and since the organization's inception, over 1500 SWAN events have been held in more than 36 countries. As the www.womensart.org website claims, the ultimate purpose of these SWAN events 'showcases the power and diversity of women's creativity.'

American Players Theatre Announces 38th Summer Festival Season

American Players Theatre (APT) announces its 38th Summer Festival Season, June 10 - October 22, 2017, a diverse lineup of eight classical and contemporary plays in repertory that includes the return and work of visiting Chicago director and Jeff Award-winner William Brown taking on Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters in APT's newly renovated flagship 1140-seat outdoor amphitheater on the Hill. 

BWW Review: The Rep's FOREIGNER Resounds with Contagious Laughter and Contemporary Relevance

Written 30 plus years ago in 1985, the late Milwaukee playwright Larry Shue's award winning Foreigner first debuted at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. After playing Broadway in the 80's, and reprised by numerous theaters across the country on an annual basis, Foreigner returns to the Quadracci Powerhous for the holiday season. Directed by the inimitable Laura Gordon who understands Shue's incomparable blend of humor, relevance and warm heartedness, could re-envision this scenario in a rural Georgia bed and breakfast inn. At the Georgia inn, a British Sergeant, Froggy, rescues his low spirited and shy friend Charlie for a weekend's stay Here Charlie meets the winsome inn owner, Betty, a conspiring reverend, David Marshall Lee, his fiance Catherine, her younger brother, Ellard, and a rapscallion homegrown Georgian, Owen. Throw in Catherine and Ellard's recent inheritance, and the invisible white empire on a starry night, and Shue created a hilarious farce, even when seen several times.

American's national Mother's Day arrives, Sunday, May 8, and Next Act Theatre presents a heartwarming, poignant and powerful production to close their season at exactly the right time of year titled Motherhood Out Loud. Conceived by Susan R. Rose and Joan Stein, more than a dozen playwrights revisit motherhood through a series of themed vignettes beginning with 'Chapter One: Fast Births' and finishing with 'Chapter Five: Coming Home.' Directed by Milwaukee's acclaimed Laura Gordon, each chapter features four actors--Doug Jarecki, Michelle Lopez-Rios, Deborah Staples and Tami Workentin--who play the numerous mothers/fathers of various ages and stages throughout the evening.
