The 8th Annual Nightlife Awards, hosted by Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch, will celebrate the most outstanding performances this past year in cabaret, comedy and jazz in the clubs of New York City. The show will take place at Town Hall on Monday, January 25th (curtain at 7 PM).
Alley Theatre presents the world premiere of the new musical Wonderland about Alice, a children's book writer in Manhattan who is suffering through a creative block, estranged from her husband and alienated from her daughter. It takes a trip to a strange-yet-familiar Wonderland for her to regain her life's balance and again find the love and everyday magic that reside in us all - if we know how to look. With a book by Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy (The Civil War), lyrics by Jack Murphy, music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlett Pimpernel, The Civil War), and directed by Gregory Boyd, Wonderland begins previews Friday, January 15, opens officially Wednesday, January 20 and runs through Sunday, February 14.

Now comes THE 12, written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Robert Schenkkan, with music, lyrics and story concept by award winning composer, Neil Berg. On January 10, Adam Friedson and Left Feild Productions will present a a showcase of this new musical as a preview to it's premiere production at the Broward Center this upcoming spring. The showcase, part of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference, is directed by Richard Seyd and Produced by Adam Friedson and Left Field Productions.

The Cleveland Play House is excited to announce that Dee Hoty, a three-time Tony Award? nominated actress, will be the featured entertainer at their Annual Gala on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, Hoty began her professional career at The Cleveland Play House as a member of the repertory company (1975 and 1976). The evening begins at 6:30pm and will include complimentary valet parking, a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, dinner, silent and live auction, entertainment and dancing. Hoty earned Tony Award? nominations for her starring roles in Footloose, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, and The Will Rogers Follies. She recently starred on Broadway in Mamma Mia! and continued on the national tour in eight major U.S. cities. She can be heard on the original recordings of City of Angels, The Will Rogers Follies, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, and Footloose, and on the 2CD set of Stephen Sondheim's Follies from the Papermill Playhouse production. She is also featured on the video/DVD of My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies. Other Broadway shows include City of Angels, Me and My Girl, Big River, The Five O'Clock Girl and Shakespeare's Cabaret. A favorite of Tommy Tune's, Hoty starred opposite him in the recent U.S. tour of Doctor Dolittle. She also appeared with Stacy Keach in the first national tour of Barnum.
