Broadway fans will be treated to an intimate performance by stars of Tony Award winning productions as 42West and its new Producing Artistic Director, Jacob Langfelder launch a Broadway PoPuP Series sponsored by Yamaha, beginning on Friday, April 4 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. The monthly series at 42West (514 W. 42nd Street) will feature an inexpensive ticket to surprise PoPuP performances by some of Broadway's best. DJs Andrew Andrew (Girls, Gossip Girl), Emmy Award-winning composer Lance Horne, Trapper Felides (Next Big Thing), Billy Porter (Kinky Boots) and LED Intergalactic Unicorns will host the inaugural evening.
On Monday, March 31, The Broadway at Birdland concert series welcomed composer Lance Horne, along with a bevy of Broadway performers singing his praises and songs. On the heels of his premier with the SF Gay Men's Chorus and appearance at Sydney's Mardis Gras, Lance Horne made his Broadway at Birdland debut with guests including long-time collaborators Alan Cumming, Alice Ripley, Rachel Dratch, Stephen Wallem, Michael Rose, Lea DeLaria, Pamela Bob, and Sarah Shenkkan. The band included Matt Aronoff on bass, John Bollinger on drums and Yair Evnine on cello. This very special concert included highlights from Horne's debut album 'First Things Last,' and several world premiers, including a sneak peak into The Night Before My Wedding, Mr. Horne's collaboration with Neil Gaiman. Pride Films & Plays' next mainstage show is the Chicago premiere of Mark Campbell's musical revue Songs from an Unmade Bed, a love letter to gay men living in the city. Songs From An Unmade Bed is performed by Kevin Webb* and Jordan Phelps*, joined by understudies Jonas Davidow and Tommy Thurston on percussion, and is directed by Derek Van Barham*, under the music direction of Robert Ollis*. LANCE HORNE - the Emmy Award winning composer, musician, vocalist and producer - will make his Birdland debut with a special concert on Monday, March 31 at 7:00 PM. Lea DeLaria, Joey Arias, Stephen Wallem and Michael Rose have joined the evening as special guests, in addition to the previously-announced Alan Cumming, Alice Ripley and Rachel Dratch. They will perform songs from his acclaimed CD First Things Last in addition to a special preview of The Night Before My Wedding, Horne's upcoming collaboration with Neil Gaiman. Lance will also headline a special concert at Rockwood LA on April 15 with guest stars to be announced and an additional event this spring in San Francisco. He has contributed a movement to Tyler's Suite, a choral song-cycle dedicated to Tyler Clementi, the 18-year-old Rutgers University student that took his life three years ago. The piece, which also includes contributions from Stephen Schwartz, Ann Hampton Callaway and Craig Carnelia, will premiere from the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus on March 25-26. The performance will also include the world premiere of 'Tyler's Suite,' a multi-movement work created by top American composers of this century, presented in collaboration with the Tyler Clementi Foundation (TCF).
