The nominees for the highly competitive 64th Annual Tony Awards were announced this morning; the smash-hit new musical Million Dollar Quartet, developed early on in Village Theatre's Village Originals program, received 3 nominations. These nods include Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for Levi Kreis-first cast in Village Theatre's Festival reading and Mainstage production.

The Manhattan Theatre Club Broadway premiere of COLLECTED STORIES, by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies (Time Stands Still, Dinner with Friends), directed by Lynne Meadow (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The Loman Family Picnic) opened last night at MTC's Samuel J. While 'American Idiot' shows the future of Broadway musicals, 'Million Dollar Quartet' provides the backstory to the long hard journey that the music industry took to get us to this point. Here's hoping U2 can swoop in next season with 'Spider-Man' the musical and reaffirm that rock music belongs on Broadway...
