Award-winning stage and screen actress Fiona Shaw returned to Broadway last night, April 22, for the opening of The Testament of Mary, by the acclaimed author Colm Toibin, directed by Deborah Warner. Broadway veteran Justin Brill will return for a two-day master class today, April 13 and 14, 2:00-5:00 PM at Lakewood Theatre. Mr. Brill conducted a one-day Musical Theatre Workshop at LTC last year while in Portland with the National Tour of Wicked, which resulted in an overwhelming response.
Film, television and stand-up comedy star Wanda Sykes will appear for her very first stand-up comedy concerts in Sacramento, California Friday, May 10 at Sacramento Community Center Theater and in San Rafael, California Saturday, May 11 at the Marin Center. Sundance Institute just presented playwright and Sundance Institute Theatre Lab alum Branden Jacobs-Jenkins with the first-ever Tennessee Williams Award from the Institute's Theatre Program, which supports the development of new work for the stage. Sundance Institute Emeritus Trustee Sally Field presented the honor and accompanying $10,000 grant at the Celebrate Sundance Institute benefit for its Theatre Program last night at Stephan Weiss Studio in Greenwich Village.
