Dallas Theater Center is bringing together Dallas-Fort Worth arts organizations and cultural institutions to produce the metroplex-wide Foote Festival (www.footefestival.com) March 14 - May 1, 2011, to celebrate the life and work of the late award-winning Texas playwright Horton Foote (March 14, 1916 - March 4, 2009).

DTC Resident Acting Company Member Christina Vela reprises her role from Kitchen Dog Theater's 2007 production as Helen, a plus-size librarian who catches the attention of Tom (Regan Adair), an in-shape, successful professional. As their relationship blossoms, Tom struggles with navigating the dynamics of his relationships with vain colleagues Jeannie (Aleisha Force) and Carter (Steven Walters) who judge him for his romantic decision, forcing Tom to come to terms with his own preconceptions of the importance of conventional good looks.

Give it Up!, the new pop musical from Douglas Carter Beane (Xanadu - Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical; Tony Award nomination for Best Book of Musical, The Little Dog Laughed - Tony Award nomination for Best Play), with music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn, is currently playing the Dallas Theatre Center through February 14, 2010. After making its world premiere to raves in Dallas on January 22, production footage has been released! The musical reportedly has Broadway aspirations for the near future.
