With there being so much negativity in the world these days, it's nice to see a play, especially a musical, that has such a sweet disposition. DADDY LONG LEGS (book by John Caird with music and lyrics by Paul Gordon) is just such a production, telling a good story with a fine score, and doing so without any of the ranting and raving we've come to expect from so many modern musicals. The Rep's presentation is splendidly staged and performed, and leaves its audience with a decidedly positive vibe.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) presents Daddy Long Legs with music and lyrics by Paul Gordon and book by John Caird. Based on the classic novel by Jean Webster and directed by John Caird, this tuneful and sweet musical will be performed on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts, 130 Edgar Road (on the campus of Webster University), Webster Groves, tonight, October 10 - November 4, 2012. The cast will include Sam McMurray (A Soldier's Play, Raising Arizona), Anatol Yusef (Richard III, Boardwalk Empire), Marcia DeBonis (Fran's Bed, 13 Going on 30), Vince Gatton (Drama Desk Nominee-Candy & Dorothy), Tom Riis Farrell (Coram Boy), Julie Ann Emery (Hitch), John Preston (As You Like It), Zack Calhoon (Hamlet), and Lori Prince (Lyric is Waiting) as Buzz.

Broadway Ballyhoo has announced its cast for tonight, Thursday, Sept. 13th at 11 PM at Feinstein's at Loew's Regency. The evening will feature Tony nominee Barbara Walsh (Falsettos, Company), Drama Desk nominee Kevin Earley (Death Takes a Holiday), Nightlife Award winner Mark Nadler and Ryan Knowles (Newsical the Musical).

The Jeff Awards Committee announced 197 nominations in 34 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions, which opened between August 1, 2011, and July 31, 2012. The Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 118 Equity productions offered by 55 producing organizations. From these openings, 96 productions were 'Jeff Recommended,' which made them eligible for award nominations.

After eight critically acclaimed months at Feinstein's, performing every Thursday night at 11 PM to delighted crowds of late night musical theater fans, Scott Siegel's Broadway Ballyhoo will take the stage for one week only during prime time with five entirely different 8 PM shows from Tuesday, July 17 thru Saturday, July 21.

A by-invitation-only reading of Lempicka, a musical commissioned by Yale Rep and New Dramatists, about the tumultuous life of art deco artist Tamara de Lempicka, will be presented June 15 in Manhattan.
