The 2011 Garland Award recipients were announced today, honoring the best of Los Angeles theatre. Under the voting system each Garland winner was named on at least three critics' 'Best of 2010' lists. Each critic listed up to five nominees for each category except performance, up to 10 nominees for performance in musical productions and 10 for straight plays. Here are the critics' lists, minus the winners. The Fountain Theatre has announced a special extension of their production of Gem of the Ocean through December 21st, 2008.
'Gem of the Ocean' opens on October 11, with performances Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through November 16. Previews are scheduled October 3 through 10. Tickets are $25.00 on Thursdays and Fridays and $28.00 on Saturdays and Sundays, except opening night (October 11), which is $30.00 and previews which are $15.00.
