For people, like me, who sit in front of a computer for a living, or have long commutes each day, podcasts are an entertaining and educational way to pass the time. TUTS Underground's National Regional Premiere of MURDER BALLAD is kicking off its second and final week of performances in the Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Tony Award-winning Broadway star Karen Olivo recently kicked off a crowd-sourcing campaign to fund her new solo album project via Kickstarter and the current tally shows that the triple-threat has surpassed her original goal.

Broadway veteran Karen Olivo has just launch a Kickstarter campiagn to raise funds for her debut solo album, which has a planned release in Fall 2015. Olivo writes: 'I have always wanted to do an album of my own and even began working on one not long ago. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the process…life happened. In 2013, I turned 28, which apparently is one of several years at the end of your 20s where basically your life hits the fan and sudden changes surround you. I looked around, and everyone else seemed so happy. Then, I breathed and realized that I have plenty to be happy about. In 2013 I became BroadwayWorld.com's official theatre recording critic and have been exposed to some incredible albums since accepting that title. Some I have loved; others I have not. The show launched the Center's Bring It Home Miami, a new initiative to reconnect established artists with the community that inspired their careers. Funding for Bring It Home Miami was provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's Knight Arts Challenge.
