Aurora Theatre Company opens its 24th season with the Bay Area Premiere of award-winning playwright Marisa Wegrzyn's (Hickorydickory, The Butcher of Baraboo) MUD BLUE SKY.
The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm (The Gamm) opens Season 31 (2015-2016) with a timeless American classic, Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire. This Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by the author of The Glass Menagerie (Gamm 2010) and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof(Gamm 2002) is an undisputed masterpiece and a landmark of 20th-century theater. Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella directs, featuring Marianna Bassham (Hedda Tesman in Hedda Gabler, 2014) as Blanche DuBois, the former southern beauty whose fragile world is crumbling; resident actor Karen Carpenter (Thea Elvsted in Hedda Gabler, 2014) as Blanche's sister, StellaKowalski; and Anthony Goes (Barnabas in Paul, 2010) as her brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski.

Playwright Dane Whitlock is quite fond of popular culture to the point of obsession (nay, mania!), having created shows like LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE-OKE and I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST DONNA SUMMER. The names alone hint at the delightfully demented Cuisinart intellect behind StageRight's current Seattle premiere, ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME, KAREN CARPENTER.
With the sun out more and more (amidst all the rain, of course) the theatrical choices in the area tend to dwindle a bit. But not to worry, there's still plenty to take in. Atlanta cabaret legend Libby Whittemore returns to Actor's Express for her final concert of the 2014-2015 season with a salute to one of the most musically varied decades in recent history, the 1970s. The evening will include selections from rock to disco including songs by Karen Carpenter, Elton John, The BeeGees, Linda Ronstadt, Roberta Flack, Chicago, Three Dog Night, Cher, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Jim Croce, The Spinners and The Beatles. Currently in her sixth year of Libby's at the Express, Whittemore enchants audiences with her beautiful voice and one-of-a-kind showmanship. Performances are June 18-21 at 7:30 PM.
