In 2015, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained and deported 69,478 individuals residing within the United States. More than 1.76 million residents of the United States were brought here as undocumented youth, immigrant children who attend school here, work here, and pay taxes here, but whose existence here is considered illegal. While this is a frightening setting for those living with the constant fear of deportation and divided families, this existence hardly registers with the charismatic politician Dale Jenkins, a principal character in David Lozano and Lee Trull's collaborative, political play, Deferred Action.
San Diego Opera is proud to continue its tradition of presenting new or rarely performed works when it presents the west coast premiere of Great Scott, the new opera from composer Jake Heggie (Moby-Dick, Dead Man Walking, Three Decembers) and librettist Terrence McNally (Dead Man Walking, Three Decembers, and the plays Mother and Sons, Love! Great Scott opens on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 7 PM for four performances at the San Diego Civic Theatre and is a co-production with The Dallas Opera. ALL THE WAY opens with blinking blood-red lights, deafening gunshots, vibrant colors in impressionistic soft-focus. Moments later, you can cut the tension with a knife or the crisp, clear black and white projections. From the start, Director Kevin Moriarty establishes that the Dallas Theater Center and Alley Theatre's stunning co-production of Robert Schenkkan's exhilarating political thriller is no documentary or a biopic.
For the third consecutive year, RUDOLPH will visit Dallas' historic Majestic Theatre. Performances are December 3 and 4 at 7:00PM and December 5 and 6 at 2:00PM. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the show!

Last Friday, at a restaurant in downtown Dallas, the cast of Broadway's newest hit musical, MOONSHINE: THAT HEE HAW MUSICAL, celebrated their crowd-pleasing opening night amidst cocktails and cheers. Except it wasn't the celebration of their Broadway opening night they were celebrating: it was a party celebrating the press opening of Dallas Theatre Center's exciting new local production, currently being produced in hopes of soon landing on the Great White Way. Still, with the amount of talent on stage, and the brilliant writing, staging, costumes, set design, etc., this production felt a lot more 'Big Apple' than 'Big D.'
