Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is excited to announce its inaugural 2016 National Playwright Resident, playwright Rajiv Joseph.

Following Bravo Media's critically acclaimed original scripted comedy series “Odd Mom Out” season two premiere on Monday, June 20 at 10pm ET/PT, the network will make the second and third episodes of the season available on BravoTV.com, the Bravo Now App, and VOD ahead of their linear debuts. 

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the schedule for Lincoln Center's seventh White Light Festival, running from October 16 through November 16, 2016. The international multidisciplinary festival, which takes its name from a quotation by the Estonian composer Arvo Part, is an annual exploration of the power of art to illuminate our interior and communal lives. A popular theater festival will bring an end to nearly two decades of free Shakespeare performances due to overcrowding issues in Inwood Hill Park coupled with financial constraints, its organizers announced.

Steve Wynn's ShowStoppers at Wynn Las Vegas, named "Best Musical Production Show" by the Southern Nevada Concierge Association, recently unveiled two new numbers as part of the uplifting musical repertoire.

 Lake Forest Theatre presents its inaugural season opener, THE SECRET GARDEN, opening June 10 and running through July 2, with the press opening on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. Managing Artistic Director Steve Malone will direct the season opener at the newly renovated John & Nancy Hughes Theatre, 400 East Illinois Rd. in downtown Lake Forest. The production will be accompanied by a 15-piece live orchestra.

Although the solstice doesn't officially appear for another week or so, the summer opera clock is already ticking. There's a plethora of performances going on all over New York City, in addition to interesting, entertaining and fascinating productions that are just a hop, skip and jump away. The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director; David McCoy, Chairman of the Board), celebrates Pride Month with the June installment of the game show for musical theater lovers, TUNE IN TIME, presented by Amy Engelhardt and Heather Shields, hosted by Emily McNamara, with Musical Director Nate Buccieri and annoyingly insistent timekeeper Sheila Head, and featuring celebrity guest judges drag performers Marti Gould Cummings, Judy Darling and Brita Filter, on Monday evening, June 20, 2016 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

SILENCE! The Musical (lyrics & music by Jon Kaplan & Al Kaplan and book by Hunter Bell) is being produced by Standing Room Only Productions at Obsidian Theater (www.obsidiantheater.org). With direction by Chris Patton, music direction by Eduardo Guzman, choreography by Eric Dano and assistant direction and stage management by Lauren Hainley, the production begins today, June 9, and continues through June 25, 2016.

What's in store for the mermaid princess turned helpful pirate and her buccaneer beau? Take the plunge to see! This fantastical fish tale features a bountiful ocean of puppets, characters, original music, stunning stage effects and bubbly action! Based on Hans Christian Andersen's whale of a tale, The Little Pirate Mermaidis a part of the Center's 2016-2017 Family Series.

With today's news on the passing of playwright Peter Shaffer, The Acting Company will be dedicating their one night only staged reading of Lettice and Lovage on Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. to his memory.  Angela Lansbury and Dana Ivey will head an all-star cast featuring Patricia Connolly and original Broadway cast member, Paxton Whitehead at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues. 

2016 marks the centenary of the year Eugene O'Neill began writing ground-breaking plays in Provincetown, considered the birthplace of modern American theater. This year, the 11th Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater (TW Fest) will offer new approaches to staging O'Neill from the perspective of Tennessee Williams' genre-busting dramas.

I got the opportunity to speak with actors Chris Gibson and Rachel Landon, Stage Manager Lauren Hainley, and Choreographer Eric Dano about SRO's upcoming production of SILENCE! THE MUSICAL. The musical is a parody of the 1991 Academy Award winning film, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. The show is directed by Chris Patton and stars Chris Gibson, Rachel Landon,Bryan Kaplun, Chaney Moore, Tom Stell, Kiefer Slaton, Maryann Williams, Taelon J. Stonecipher, and Heather Buzonas. SILENCE! THE MUSICAL will make its Houston premiere and run from June 9 - June 25, 2016 at Obsidian Theater.
