This Just In - Tony Winning FUN HOME Recoups on Broadway

Producers Fox Theatricals (Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson) and Barbara Whitman have just announced that Fun Home, the groundbreaking and Tony Award-winning Best Musical, has recouped its production costs on Broadway in only eight months, becoming the first new musical of the 2014-2015 Broadway season to do so. Capitalized at $5.25 million, Fun Home opened to rave reviews at the 740-seat Circle in the Square Theatre on April 19, 2015, where it broke house box office records and won five 2015 Tony Awards.

World Premiere of AMELIE, Starring Samantha Barks, Extends Once More

Amelie, A New Musical continues to win the hearts of Bay Area audiences. Due to popular demand Berkeley Rep announces that the show, which was already extended by a week, will run for an additional eight performances - but it must close Sunday, October 18, 2015.  Tickets can be purchased by phone at (510) 647-2949 or online at berkeleyrep.org. The theatrical world premiere presentation has been met with enthusiastic applause and rave reviews from critics:

World Premiere of AMELIE Extends at Berkeley Rep

Due to an exuberant reception from critics and audiences alike, Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced that Amelie, A New Musical, will extend for an additional week. Originally scheduled to close on October 4, the world premiere will now play through Sunday, October 11. Starting at noon today, tickets for the added eight performances can be purchased by phone at (510) 647-2949 or online at berkeleyrep.org.

BWW Flashback: A Helluva Run! ON THE TOWN Closes on Broadway Tonight

The Tony Award nominated revival of On The Town concludes its run on Broadway tonight, September 6, following 28 previews and 368 regular performances, making this the longest-running Broadway production of the show since the 1944 original. ON THE TOWN began previews on September 20, 2014 and officially opened on October 16, 2014 at the Lyric Theatre. Broadway's ALLEGIANCE Announces Partnership with Educational Program 'Inspire Change'

Producers Lorenzo Thione and Andrew Treagus has announced a partnership with INSPIRE CHANGE, an innovative arts program that works alongside commercial theater productions to provide students across the tri-state area with no-and-low-cost tickets paired with unique and high-impact educational programming. INSPIRE CHANGE was piloted with the Tony-winning Best Musical Memphis in 2012 and will be back on Broadway this fall with Allegiance, a new American musical starring Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, George Takei and Telly Leung, which will open on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Previews begin on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

NYC Ballet Soloist Georgina Pazcoguin Dances Into ON THE TOWN Tonight

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, New York City Ballet principal dancer and Theatre World Award Winner Megan Fairchild departed the Broadway revival of On The Town last weekend. Now, New York City Ballet soloist Georgina Pazcoguin steps into the role of 'Ivy Smith' for performances from tonight, August 11, through August 23. Beginning August 25, Misty Copeland will make her Broadway debut in the role for 12 performances only, through September 6.

Megan Fairchild Exits ON THE TOWN Today; NYC Ballet Soloist Georgina Pazcoguin Takes Over

New York City Ballet principal dancer and Theatre World Award Winner Megan Fairchild will depart the Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN on August 9 to return to the NYC Ballet. Fairchild will be succeeded by New York City Ballet soloist Georgina Pazcoguin, who will step into the role of 'Ivy Smith' for performances from August 11 - 23. Beginning August 25,Misty Copeland will make her Broadway debut as 'Ivy Smith' for 12 performances only, through September 6.
