5th Avenue Theatre to Welcome Over 70 Teens for SPAMALOT

After The 5th Avenue Theatre wraps up its professional production of Monty Python's Spamalot, the curtain will rise again for an all-student production, featuring more than 70 students from across Washington State. The Rising Star Project: Spamalot is not only a brilliant artistic collaboration between some of the area's most promising up-and-coming young talent, but an educational program unlike any other in the country.

But when Teresa becomes uncertain of accepting the role assigned to her--doubting her talent--Barbie comes to the rescue. Barbie then starts to tell stories of the 'Swan Lake,' 'Mariposa' and 'Princess and the Popstar' to teach Teresa to be confident and believe in herself. Teresa eventually accepts the role as Barbie's co-star.

Alexandra Socha, who originated the role, has left the show for personal reasons. The Public Theater announced today that PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, will record and release the original cast recording of the acclaimed Public Theater musical FUN HOME, directed by Sam Gold and featuring music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. Fox Theatricals and Barbara Whitman are serving as the recording's executive producers. Based on Alison Bechdel's graphic novel, FUN HOME will be recorded on Monday, December 2 and will be released as a single disc on February 18, 2014. FUN HOME received some of the best reviews of the season and was recently extended a third time due to overwhelming demand to Sunday, December 29. Public Theater Extends Michael Cerveris & Judy Kuhn-Led FUN HOME Again Through 12/15

The Public Theater has again extended the world premiere musical FUN HOME, directed by Sam Gold and featuring music by Jeanine Tesori, with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. Based on Alison Bechdel's graphic novel, FUN HOME began performances on Monday, September 30 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, November 3. The musical will now run through December 15.

FIRST DATE to Close on Broadway January 5, 2014

It's just been announced that FIRST DATE, which opened on August 8, 2013 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 W. 48th Street), will play its final performance on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 3pm, having played 34 previews and 174 regular performances. FIRST DATE began performances on Broadway on July 9, 2013, and has a book by Austin Winsberg, music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner,direction by Bill Berry, musical staging by Josh Rhodes, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and musical supervision, vocal and incidental arrangements by Dominick Amendum.
