14th Annual NY Burlesque Festival September 29th-October 2nd!

The Annual New York Burlesque Festival is the largest and most acclaimed festival of its kind in the world, and has attracted sold-out crowds since it's premiere in 2003.  This fall marks the 14th year for this celebrated event, and producers, Thirsty Girl & Pontani  Productions will once again, serve up 4 nights of glitter and glamour in Gotham, with over 120 eye-popping performances from international leading burlesque and variety entertainers at five of NYC's hottest nightclubs. Bringing together over 2,700 enthusiastic audience members who,  in addition to enjoying tassels and tail feathers will be entertained by live music, international DJ's, variety and circus performers, boylesque, and a burlesque bazaar where you can try on custom corsets, peruse pasties, hair ornaments, vintage dresses, lingerie and even partake in a pin-up make-over.

Cathy Weis Projects has announced the lineup for the fall 2016 season of Sundays on Broadway, an ongoing series featuring performances, film screenings, discussions, and all manner of happenings on Sunday evenings at WeisAcres. The fall season runs from October 2 to December 4, 2016. All events begin at 6pm and are free and open to the public. WeisAcres is located at 537 Broadway, #3, between Prince and Spring Streets.

La MaMa & Talking Band's Symphonic Play BURNISHED BY GRIEF Opens Tonight

Since its founding in 1974 by Paul Zimet and Ellen Maddow -- former members of Joseph Chaikin's seminal Open Theater -- the Talking Band has remained a cornerstone of New York City's avant-garde theater community. La MaMa in association with Talking Band presents the world premiere of its latest work, BURNISHED BY GRIEF, a sinister, music infused romantic comedy, at La MaMa's first floor theater, opening tonight, January 27, and running through February 7, 2016.

Talking Band's New Play Set for La MaMa in 2016

Since its founding in 1974 by Paul Zimet, Ellen Maddow and Tina Shepard-former members of Joseph Chaikin's seminal Open Theater-the Talking Band has remained a cornerstone of New York City's avant-garde theater community. Ben Brantley of The New York Times recently called them 'one of the boldest and most venerable politically minded companies in New York experimental theater.' American Theater magazine has deemed them 'one of the most exceptional theater companies in the country.' The Talking Band will present in association with La MaMa the world premiere of its latest work, Burnished by Grief, a sinister, music infused romantic comedy, at La MaMa'sfirst floor theater from January 22-February 7.

CITY GIRLS AND DESPERADOES to Play The Secret Theatre in January

World renowned actor and director, Austin Pendleton, Drama Desk nominee Anita Durst [The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kent], Orange is The New Black's Karina Ortiz and Julie Atlas Muz whom the N.Y.Times calls "the royalty of burlesque" are featured in Albee Fellow Playwright Pamela Enz's "City Girls and Desperadoes", which opens at The Secret Theatre on January 7th 2016. Emerging actors Connie Castanzo and Peter Collier support this superbly talented cast.

13th Annual NY Burlesque Festival to Run 9/24-27

The 13th Annual New York Burlesque Festival will feature four days of award-winning burlesque performance with an international cast that includes living burleque legend Judith Stein, the 2008 Queen of Burlesque Angie Pontani, the 2006 Miss Exotic World Julie Atlas Muz and winner of the 2012 Burlesque Hall of Fame's "Best Boylesque" performance Russell Bruner. Abrons Arts Center Sets 2015-16 Season of Theatre, Dance & More

On February 12, 1915, the Abrons Arts Center's Henry Street Settlement Playhouse opened its doors on the Lower East Side. ABSINTHE to Receive Sydney Premiere at St Mary's Cathedral Square

Spiegelworld announced today that its smash-hit Las Vegas show ABSINTHE will be performed on St Mary's Cathedral Square, opposite Hyde Park, in the heart of Sydney's CBD from September 15 2015. It will be the first time a spiegeltent is to be pitched on this iconic site. Coney Island's 33rd Annual Mermaid Parade Set for 6/20

Coney Island USA's 33rd Annual Mermaid Parade will begin at 1pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015. The parade starts at the corner of West 21st Street and Surf Avenue, and proceeds east on Surf Avenue to West 10th Street, where it turns south to the Boardwalk, and then north back to Steeplechase Plaza, where it concludes.

Alan Cumming, Theresa Rebeck & More Set for The Orchard Project 2015

The Exchange today announced the artists and companies who will participate in its 2015 Orchard Project summer residency program. Twenty-two artists and ensembles (listed below) were selected from a competitive field of nearly 500 applicants to develop their big, new ideas at the Orchard Project. This will be the eighth summer - and the first summer in Saratoga Springs, NY - for the Orchard Project, a laboratory program where theatre artists and companies come to innovate, develop, and refine new shows. Past productions developed at the Orchard Project have gone on to be performed around the globe for over 500,000 people and to win awards from TONYs to Obies to Oliviers.
